We had the good fortune of connecting with Danny Ramirez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danny, what are you inspired by?
The queer community is one of my main pillars of inspiration. The creativity that stems from people within this community allows me to get inspired when imagining and creating. from pop culture to fashion references, to representing for social activism. The spectrum of inspiration comes in a array of forms that always keeps me motivated to create.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work within the Muy Cute brand focuses on highlighting queer representation, pop culture, femme aesthetic, confidence, and not being afraid of breaking out from stereotypical norms. Being able to create for myself and what I believe in has been the most rewarding aspect of this entire process. Especially meeting and speaking to so many folks that connect with the pieces I have created so far. You have to be comfortable with opening up to your audience and letting them see the authentic you. As important as creative, message and meaning is, you also have to make sure you are fine tuning your knowledge when it comes to back end topics like shipping, pricing, stock, and manufacturers. What matters most is that I keep creating because I enjoy the process, not because I feel like I have to do it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If one of my friends was visiting for the week I would make sure it would specifically be a food related trip. Nothing beats some delicious Tex-Mex, Salvidoran, and BBQ. We would have to Check out Avila’s Mexican Restaurant for their delicious Chile Rellenos, so good! for Salvidoran we would have to go to Mario’s Mexican & Salvadorian Restaurant, The best of both worlds in one place. But the Pupusas are everything! BBQ is tough, since their are so many good options you can’t go wrong. But a personal favorite with some great BBQ is Ferris Wheelers backyard & BBQ. A Chopped Brisket sandwich will forever be my dish of choice.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank family, friends and other fellow Latinx creators who have shown me nothing but kindness and full support when I first created my brand. I’m sure I wouldn’t have been able to build my own confidence within my brand without having these people cheering me on from the sidelines. I appreciate and thank all of those folks for showing me so much love and support.
