We had the good fortune of connecting with Cory Vii Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cory Vii, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My initial thought to starting my own business was to merely be acclaimed “self made”, free from the typical 9-5 or cubicle work. As I set out on my endeavor I quickly realized the amount of hours, sacrifices, & grind that goes into earning that moniker. Accepting the challenge, I slowly began to adopt the idea that success was not a destination, but rather something you become.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve naturally gravitated towards going with the flow of things, but grew appreciation for the results of moving with purpose and being as calculated as possible.

Shots with Vii is a developing photography-media company. Something that my clients always mention and that I would like to believe keeps them as returning customers, is the experience they receive during their shoot. We are professional, we laugh, we are genuine, we make customers comfortable, we play music; we provide the ultimate experience. Shots with Vii is still growing, however I am proud of our success thus far. You can see growth in the company over the years, you’ll continue to see the quality  of content getting better and better. I also write and record music, have a lifestyle brand, and more. The journey has had its ups and downs, as entrepreneurship typically can, but we haven’t let any trails stop us and that’s what’s important. Over the years I have learned the value in customer service, the importance of networking, and building genuine relationships! God is Great Always.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Gotta hit up TJ’s Catfish & Wings in Arlington, Bussin’! You gone wanna hit up Key Figure Events & Rentals on Instagram to setup a nice picnic in the park. Depending on what day it is we pulling up to Black Vibez on Vickery in Fort Worth and hanging out. A lot of local artist doing their thing as far as music so perhaps catch a show. Probably grab brunch at Kitchen + Kocktails and then stop by a Dallas Black Canvas event with Live Music and Poetry later. So many things going on .. so many things coming soon!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First off, I wanna thank God & you guys at DFW Shoutout/Voyage Dallas for this opportunity. My wife for being an ear for feedback & constantly believing in me. Shoutout to past, present, & future clients for trusting me to deliver their visions. I would also like to give a shout-out to KG at CoSign Magazine, Mack & Ryan over at MC² Printing Company, and Mel at Royal Lanes for providing an opportunity to grow, learn, and network. Lastly, Shoutout to anyone who was influential to my growth as a creative & business professional.
