We had the good fortune of connecting with Cortnee White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cortnee, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote that has stuck with me the longest in life is a very simple quote but I feel carries so much meaning. “Love many. Trust Few. And always paddle your own canoe.” Our lives are so short and when running a company you encounter and meet and build so many relationships along the way. The most important thing in all of that is to love on all of those people that you are blessed to have around you. People go through so much and battle so much, so love on those around you every chance you get. The hardest line to find while running businesses is that line between emotions and logic. You can love as many people as you can but at the end of the day you have to remain smart and only trust those few people that you let into your inner circle. While you can find a way to love each person you meet, trusting every person you meet is only going to hinder you and your business. And the finally, it’s so important that we know that we are the only person that can get us anywhere in life. Waiting on other people, relying on other people, blaming other people is going to get you nowhere. Always paddle your own canoe and know that you can take that canoe anywhere in life that you want to go.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Starting a business and owning businesses is definitely not an easy feat. A fellow business owner and friend quoted to me once, “Owning a business is just a series of start overs.” That statement has proven so true over the last 8 years. I used to envision owning a business as a mountain that I was climbing and I was trying to get to the top. Now I see it as more of a circle. You ride the high while it lasts and you prepare for the drop and then you climb again back to the top. I think the biggest lesson to learn when owning a business is how to prepare your mindset. If you keep thinking that you’re climing a mountain, you’re going to be so disappointed every time there is a set back. Now that I’m a few years into this roller coaster, I know that it’s not about IF there are setbacks, it’s just preparing for WHEN the setbacks come. I guess what I would want the world to know about me as the person behind my brands is that I’m just a human. I’m a woman and a mom and I’m trying to do what’s best for everyone around me. I’m juggling multiple businesses, being a gymnastics coach and loving on my kids at my gyms, being there and creating memories with my kids at home and trying to build successful businesses that add value to this world. I make so many mistakes daily, but I try to right them where I’m wrong and learn from them and just try to do better the next day.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many things we love to do around Dallas. We are avid Dallas Mavericks fans so we would definitely be going to a game and stopping by Happiest Hour afterward. We love going out to the Truck Yard in The Colony on a pretty day and sitting outside and drinking with friends and spending some time together while our kids run around and play. One of my top 5 favorite restaurants around Dallas is Kenny’s in Addison. His steak with the crab cake on top is amazing. The best steak I have found in Dallas.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Growing up I haven’t had a lot of people that I could really rely on or who were there through the hard times. I have had some really great people in my life but they have been a part of my life in seasons. The only constant that has been present in every part of my life and who has remained constant through it all is God. He has been there through the hard times and the great times. I have come out of many situations with amazing results that I never imagined I would be able to get through. I am a very self relient person so for that reason I think God has put me through some hard trials to make sure I never forget how much I need him.
