We had the good fortune of connecting with Collin Martin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Collin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always had that entrepreneurial itch! When I noticed the complete lack of interesting, healthy and local snacks in coworking spaces, offices and taprooms – I knew I had found the direction for Bingo Markets.
What should our readers know about your business?
Bingo Markets is vending updated for a modern audience. Two things set us apart from the competition: thoughtful curation and beautifully-designed machines. The traditional vending operator makes one trip to Sam’s Club and then turns on the autopilot. At Bingo, we are constantly curating our products to make sure that only the most deliciously interesting snacks are making it into our markets. Secondly, in the modern world, good design is everything. Bingo is the only vending machine handsome enough to fit seamlessly into your thoughtfully-designed workspace or taproom. No big black boxes here, just rows and rows of the best snacks and quick meals around.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My ideal Dallas day starts at Davis Street Espresso with a cappuccino and fresh baked blueberry scone. You just can’t beat it. Then we’re headed to Pecan Lodge for lunch, with a very necessary digestion walk through Deep Ellum afterwards. The Dallas Arboretum is a must too. Spread a blanket on the hill, pour a glass of BYO wine, and watch the sun set on White Rock Lake. And finally, I’d end the day back at Oak Cliff Brewing for a pint and a trip to the Bingo Market for some Uncle Jerry’s pretzels.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Of course! Bingo Markets might still be stuck in my head if it weren’t for my business partner, pal, and cousin-in-law, Tommy Blake. Near the beginning, I reached out to him for a quote on some design work for Bingo and he ended up loving the idea so much that he asked to come on board as a partner. Obviously, I said yes, and it has proved to be the best business decision I’ve made to date. Tommy is sharp as a tack and one heck of a dreamer. He is the reason our markets look so slick and our Instagram stays as curated as our snack selection.
