We had the good fortune of connecting with Clint Simpson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Clint, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Hands down my favorite quote concerning my career is “Doing good is good for business”. It’s literally waving above my head in my office as we speak! And while I can talk about how the analytics and studies back up that statement I can better prove the point with my life through relationships, opportunities, and the lessons learned. When your primary goal is to make much of the person next to you, somewhere in the inner workings of that journey, you find yourself the one who is blessed and the person who has gained so much. It seems counter-intuitive, but in my journeys, it has turned out to be the only pathway to great joy and fulfillment in the workplace. And isn’t that what we’re all seeking?

I’ve been extremely fortunate to dip my toes in a lot of exciting fields. My first full entrepreneurial venture was creating a music touring agency. That led to a musician consultancy firm, booking acts for a live music venue, and now I’m at the threshold of starting a music festival. I’ve always had one foot in the music industry and I love it. I don’t simply love it because of the music (though I am a music hound) but more so because of the musicians and their mentality towards one another. That industry unlike most others has a cooperative spirit rather than competitive. Well, at least amongst the musicians themselves. Ha!

I first jumped into the marketing industry because of those incredibly talented folks and I’m doing my best to carry that spirit into every other industry I have the privilege to work within.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As I stated before, for better or worse, I’m a serial entrepreneur. When I was younger, my venturous heart would wander towards many things at once. Over the years I’ve learned that I’m not a very good juggler and most times a ball or two might have been in the air but a third or fourth was crashing to the ground. So with that lesson learned, I’ve promised myself (and my saint of a wife) that I’d only seek a maximum of two ventures at a time. So let me focus on one that rattles my heart consistently these days. Concentric Group is a purpose-driven marketing + consultancy firm. Collectively we’ve been in marketing for over 30 years, and during that time we’ve learned one major thing. While we might build highly-effective websites, write creative copy and shoot cinematically-gorgeous marketing films, it’s simply not enough. We’ve learned that it’s not enough for companies to merely talk about the “what” they do, rather they must convey and effectively share the “how” and “why” they do business. The key to unlocking a company’s full potential is found in those two magic intangibles. Data collected in recent years clearly shows that companies who have a defined vision and are selflessly moving the needle for their customers, their employees, and towards a greater purpose do quantitatively better than those that don’t. Consumers care that you care. This is the great differentiator. Our role is to walk you through the process of becoming a purpose-driven company and then we go enthusiastically proclaim it to the world in hopes to gain ground in the marketplace, yes, but also to inspire other companies and business leaders to do the same.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In just so happens that I briefly started a podcast a few months back and currently continue with a little Instagram called Fort Worthiness @fortworthiness that does just that – illuminate the great city of Fort Worth and all it has to offer. Through that little hobby, I’ve learned an immense amount about FW that I wasn’t formerly aware of. My go-to move is Hot Box Biscuit Club for a Big Boy. After that I’d slip down to the Stockyards to catch a classic movie experience at the Isis Theatre, go visit the stunning John Wayne Experience or hang out at Second Rodeo Brewing for some drink or two and a song or two. Honestly, Fort Worth has so much to give these days, you could get lost and you wouldn’t be bored.

The second venture I mentioned involves creating the most incredible bluegrass and songwriters festival just down the road from Fort Worth in Blum, TX so hopefully, that’ll be a reality for people to enjoy next year!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I fully believe we are an amalgamation of everyone we’ve ever come into contact with whether for a moment or those who have been there for a lifetime. There are folks who immediately come to mind, however. One of the standouts has been there since the dawn of my career. His name is Brian Childers. Brian is equal parts a great businessman, friend, and mentor. Brian gave me free office space (and lots of great advice) when I was just a fledging because another great named George Faris had previously done so for him. Doing unto others as you would have them do unto you is a brilliant bit of scripture from the Bible but when it’s played out in real-time you quickly realize the depth and lifelong impact that it brings.
