We had the good fortune of connecting with Clara Guzman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Clara, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Events by Clara specializes in full event planning, coordinating, and wedding decor in DFW. There are three main points I established when I started my business: understand the processes and industry, have a strong mission, and have structure.  When planning a special a day, there are a lot of behind-the-scenes processes. To provide seamless-stress free events for our clients,  I made sure to study these processes in-depth and completed a certification in Event Planning and Business Management. While providing event planning services, I want our clients to believe in us and our strong mission. ” Mission statement: Events by Clara services are here to help clients adhere to their dream events through our professional expertise in the event planning industry. “ Our mission thrives in planning, customer service, clientele, employees, and fun. Next, we focused on building  our business structure.  A business may operate in chaos, but only for a period of time. Structure keeps our business operating smoothly in understanding roles and services. Lastly, understanding the risks. Every business owner is taking risks in time, money, branding, necessities, family, partners, employees, unprecedented times (a pandemic), and overall success. When I understood my thought process in starting my own business, I depended on my authenticity, support, and optimism to cover the rest.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My background and professional career are in Higher Education. I have a B.S. and M.A. from West Texas A&M University and currently work at Dallas College. I truly enjoy serving others as they seek an opportunity in education. Eventually, I want to transition and focus on my business full-time. For the time being, working full time in the public sector as I expand Events by Clara in services, employees, and events, is still manageable. I started planning events for fun years ago, but as we build, our focus is to continue building Events by Clara. According to Forbes, there are 2.6 million weddings happening in 2022!  Events by Clara is ready to serve you and plan your weddings and events. Now booking for 2022-2023!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve only lived in Dallas for 4 years and I absolutely love it. The city is diverse and has so much to offer. In fact, my friends come to visit Dallas often and I have so much fun showing them around. For a Saturday night out, we go out for salsa dancing. We head to Addison for dinner and drinks at Gloria’s Latin Cuisine and enjoy the night dancing away. Gloria’s offers quality live salsa bands and drinks, so the night is quite lively. For the next day, we head to The Maple Leaf Diner for mimosas and one of the best brunch menus ever. For some relaxing sightseeing, we head to Trinity Groves Bridge for a nice walk before heading downtown for some tacos and margaritas at La Ventana for meal #2. Since downtown is a short drive to Bishop Arts District, we enjoy a nice coffee as we explore the beautiful art and yummy paletas at Picole.
