We had the good fortune of connecting with CJ Starr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi CJ, what is the most important factor behind your success?
For me, it’s the pros and cons of any decision that I make I always try to look at what success would look like and what are the risks that I’m currently taking to achieve that goal. It could be taking a certain gig, looking at distance and who I will be entertaining and how much time it will consume.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m much more seasoned than a lot of The comics because I’ve done so many different things in my life. I look back at some of the jobs that I’ve done and I can honestly tell you that I’ve never been told no to at least try something. I’ve been a basketball coach a cemetery director, a hairstylist and a student aid. All these experiences that I have had factors into my joke writing, which makes me very relatable to any person with all sorts of background..

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I have a whole week, we’re visiting everywhere. We’re starting in Deep album. If it’s the weekend I love the arts and how trendy it is. Deep Ellum reminds me. Of Austin without the attitude. We would definitely. Go to Arlington and spend time at the parks and Arlington Improv.. and none of my friends leave after visiting me without going to the boiling crab, Lolo’s chicken,

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to start off with my wife, Kim Starks She has given me the free range to attempt many business ventures in my life, and try not to judge. Kim has been beside me more than behind me to the point where she knows the business went back to school and got her masters degree at the same time. I went back and got mine. She’s always taken on jobs and responsibilities and it’s hard for me to find any failures in her career choices.
