We had the good fortune of connecting with Christy Stransky and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christy, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
Don’t settle. I have always heard this and believed it for probably the first 30 years of my life. I now realize, through experience and travel that if you have a good foundation, values/morals, and work ethic… you will be successful in whatever you do! Its okay to settle for happiness in all different forms. I used strive for this word “perfection” and wanting more in everything(career, relationships, etc) and ended up exhausting myself and failing many times disappointing myself everytime. Perfection is the lowest standard in the world because there is nothing that can measure that. All that does is prevents you from starting your dream career, having a family, etc. I used to push the people I loved so much because I thought they could do better. Now I rely on God and trust. Settling for his work and his plan is the only thing we can truly rely on. I trust now and use settling in a positive manner. If I show love and compassion to EVERYONE, word hard, and stay true to my values then all things will work out. I am settled in my inner peace and his plan.
What should our readers know about your business?
My primary career is in dental sales. I have worked for Henry Schein since April 2009 covering Texas and selling solutions to better a dental practice and provide efficiencies to offices resulting in a better experience to their patients. I opened Gypsy Waltz Hot Yoga initially to provide a space for everyone in our community to come together as one community to better themselves. I know that through prayer and breath, anyone can evolve. Through conversations with members, I realized every individual experiences this in a different way and it was important to provide an positive environment that was client centric in order for each person to grow. I added barre, rowing, and cycling into the studio after the fact. All of our classes offer breath work, mediation, a come as you are, and our secret potion(a specific infrared heat panel) to intensify the result. 2021 is going to be a year of growth for us as we expand with locations and classes.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
New Braunfels is an amazing community with thick German ties. It has the small town feel, but offers so much when it comes to tourism. Depending on the year…. the top sites to visit are our square, Wurstfest, and the Comal and Guadalupe River. My top spots to eat are Freiheit Country store for the food and live music. The owners are dear friends of mine and are a wonderful family! I love going into downtown for karaoke at Moonshine and drinks at Pour Haus. Floating the river during the summer is a MUST!! You have to walk around Gruene and grab a beer at Gruene Hall also if you are visiting. One of the new areas that is growing and a hot spot is Freiheit Village. This is where Gypsy Waltz is located. In the evenings and weekends, you can find me there, at Freiheit Country Store, Double Schotts, or Pale Horse Drinkery 🙂
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My sister as she is my cheerleader and mentor. She continues to give me advice when I throw out ideas. She give me objective feedback and continues to bring new ideas to the table based on my personality and end goal. She reminds me on a daily basis on what is important in life(God, family, and our inner peace). She is the phone call I look forward to everyday as she always makes me laugh:) My friend Kassi Jaroszewski and her husband, Barry-Not family by blood, but two of the greatest people that I know. They are impressive on their own with many successful businesses, a marriage, and three children. They stay true to their foundation with their faith and are by my side always!! I am a private person and Kassi has taught me so much on just being me and not worrying about what people say. A person’s story is so important and is needed in order to have human connection. My entire team of instructors- Each one of them are a blessing. I am so proud of the group of women that our studio has to lead our community. Each one is unique, has a story of their own, and represents the name Gypsy Waltz to the highest level. I have so much respect and love for them!!
