We had the good fortune of connecting with Christman Fifer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christman, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
That any builder and his/her employees are people too … We are not machines … A good builder (employer) has to work very hard at treating the people around him/her with a lot of compassion and patience to get the maximum desired results … Building a great team takes time …

What should our readers know about your business?
Apprenticing as a trim carpenter and cabinet maker, this process led me down the right road to becoming a custom home builder … Knowing how customized millwork goes together and not just relying on good business skills has given me the ability to offer more to each of my clients … A lot of trial and error has given me the skill set to achieve all I can for each home I design and build … Sometimes a hard task to overcome? Very much so, but the hard is what results in the good … At the end of the day, I try to give my clients what they want with a great ability for visualization, execution and having talented, crafty and skilled individuals around me to make each home a dream come true …

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Entertaining someone in the Dallas area, I would have them start with a hearty breakfast at Kubys Sausage House in Snyder Plaza, then tour the Kimball Museum or the Dallas Museum of Art, soak in the eclectic neighborhood architecture of Oak Cliff and Lakewood followed by a lunch stop at Slowbone Bbq off Irving Blvd, maybe an afternoon Ranger game or walk around White Rock Lake topped off with some tasty fried shrimp or broiled Snapper at S&D Oyster Bar off McKinney Ave.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be where I am today without the love, support and full encouragement from my bride … She has loved me and pushed me to keep going forward at every road block, stop and turn … She’s amazing!
