Meet Chris Robles

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Robles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chris, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking any risk is definitely something I have learned to do throughout my journey to grow both personally and as a business. I started a weight loss journey in 2019 when I reached my heaviest of 320lbs, and at this point of life the only two options were give up and continue down the dark path or go out and figure out how I was going to make a change. Same exact feeling came when I started to step into the role of being a personal trainer I was either going to continue a 9-5 job or do what made me happy. The choice of leaving a very well paying job to pursue what I loved has now allowed me to grow a gym with an amazing community of people. Though I have not had an easy transition each time I took the next step I would without a doubt go through every struggle to be exactly where I am and will continue to grow changing one life at a time.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The way I like to describe Grind Hard Fitness it is not just a brand, but it is in one word a community. What started as a personal journey has become my career which is what makes me so connected and passionate about it. The word easy never existed in this journey from weight loss to starting a business to actually running a business that employs others. Every decision that is made, directly effects others members, trainers and the flow of the gym. Overcoming every challenge that we have faced has been through rolling the punches and trusting god. For example the week we signed for the lease our apartment flooded December 23 2022. We were newlyweds trying to start something and we had not a dollar or a home to our name. A vision and faith is all we had. Artist Trey Wilder blessed us with a mural reading “Grind Hard Stay Humble.” This mural allows me to reflect and remember where we started and where we are going. I would like the world to know that it doesn’t matter where you start, believing in yourself and nonstop Grind will take you anywhere.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a long time friend visiting my city, first stop would be Grind Hard Fitness. To all friends and family that visit know this is all that we do. Grind Hard Fitness is where we can be found working out, eating, planning for the months to come, or simply hanging out. On top of being a gym owner I am a bodybuilder, many of my friends also compete to us going to a fitness expo, bodybuilding show and working out together brings excitement.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to take a chance to shoutout the biggest supporter my wife Anahy she was the one person who encouraged me to take Grind Hard Fitness from being just another instagram account or just a youtube channel. We started with merch and this lead us to both become personal trainers and once the time came we became business partners and opened our gym in Mesquite, TX in 2023. Our families came in and gave us a start not understanding exactly what the vision was and gave the initial business loan to get us going for that we are very grateful. I can name many people in our friend group, clients and members but the one who stands out is Karim Loya he put in so many hours of work to help get the gym started from painting to organizing equipment and training clients without getting paid in the beginning, yet he believed in the vision and continues to stand by us he is now in a management position. Thank you to everyone who supports we love growing the community with you!
