We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Burk and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, how does your business help the community?
A good story can literally move people into action and create lasting change in their lives and their communities.

When I started my video production business, I had no idea that I would end up on a path to changing people’s lives and businesses for the better.

At first, I was heavily focused on the technical side of creating videos, camera settings, shot composition, lighting, etc. I set out to make the best looking product and was determined to be a master of my craft. A good looking video will only go so far and it wasn’t until I began to focus on telling a good story that I realized that we can really make an impact with the videos we create.

Take a non-profit looking to raise funds for example, we use our skills to craft a story-driven video that will amplify their message, connect with people world-wide and could raise their budget for the entire year!

Knowing that we can create that kind of impact is why we do what we do.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Imagine that you worked very hard on creating a video to help spread the message about your brand and bring in more business. You release it to the world and nothing happens. Crickets. At Burk Creative, we specialize in creating story-driven videos that will connect to your audience and inspire them to take action.

We always say that we think about video like making a good cup of coffee. When making coffee it’s not enough to just toss the ingredients into a mug, you have to grind the beans to a specific consistency, heat the water to a certain temperature and combine the two in a process that extracts and filters it down into a great cup of joe.

Most video companies are making what looks to be an amazing cup of coffee but in the end it just tastes bad and has no effect on the business. We don’t drink coffee because it looks good. We drink it because of the effect it has on us. It keeps you awake, it helps you stay focused. We like to think of video the same way, that it’s not enough to just have all of the ingredients. We have a process that combines the ingredients and filter them down to not only have a great looking or great tasting video but one that will have a positive effect on the business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Fort Worth, TX there are so many great places to eat, it will blow your mind. I can name at least 10 places to get literally the best hamburger you’ve ever eaten like, M&O Station Grill, Rodeo Goat, or Hookers. Tex-Mex like Enchiladas Ole or BBQ like Heim are staples but we are a melting pot of all types of cuisine and have everything from southern comfort food to ramen and that’s just the food!

If you’ve never been to Fort Worth you have to make a stop at the historic stockyards and watch the cattle drive and after that head over to the arts district where we have always have spectacular exhibits to see, and then right down the street we are lucky to have the the #1 zoo in the nation!

We so many other local favorites to experience depending on your interests, like craft breweries, music venues, Six flags amusement park is just 20 min away! There is so much to do here in Fort Worth that you’re going to have a tough time cramming it all into just one week, but that doesn’t mean you cant try!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many who have helped me along the way and have giving me so much support and guidance that got me to where I am but I would have never started my journey if it wasn’t for my wife and daughter.

I have to give an enormous shoutout to my wife, Cara Burk, because not only is she the reason I decided to chase this crazy idea of starting my own business and building the life of our dreams, she is the first in line to help when I need it. We have had many late night discussions about our businesses. She is my cheerleader, my second camera, behind the scenes photographer, producer, consultant, basically anything we need to make it happen and that’s only a small part of our life together.

Cara takes so much of the workload when it comes to raising our daughter, with homeschooling, chores, field trips, crafting, and creating art projects. I truly don’t know how she does it all but we would definitely not be anywhere close to where we are without her hard work and what she does for us as a family.
