We had the good fortune of connecting with Charity Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charity, is there something you believe many others might not?
One piece of conventional advice I disagree with is “hard work pays off”. I feel like the phrase would be more accurate if it said “consistency in growth pays off”. Whether you worked hard or not is not relevant if you are not consistent where it matters. Yes this is just my opinion, but consistency more easily correlates with success over hard work. If a person consistently shows up to learn, they will be consistent in their growth. For each individual “showing up” may look slightly different, but continued growth through GOOD OR PRODUCTIVE habits is really the key. I attended Sabrina Joy’s Habit School (I highly recommend), which gave me so much insight about myself and the power of habits. This translates professionally as well. Be consistent in your quality of work, your superior customer service, and your overall willingness to be the best version of you for your clients.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Heiress & Company is a one stop shop to help pull off the perfect celebration. What sets Heiress & Company apart is our ability to meet you where you are. We provide services for the do-it-yourself customers, event planners all over the world, and we offer full event styling and design to our local clients. So you can #CelebrateWithTheHeir no matter where you are in the world, and locally you have the option to #PartyWithTheHeir.
Throughout this journey I have learned that CONSISTENCY is KING and that you must invest in yourself. I am a constant student of the industry. I also spend a substantial amount of time teaching others in the industry through Youtube, my craft group, and one-on-one hands on courses. I get so much joy out of the ability to build confidence in others.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a best friend visiting the area, I would most definitely check out a few of my favorite eateries. Madea’s of Fort Worth, Breakfast Brothers, Hershey’s Palace, S&S Cheesesteak of Arlington. For downtown Dallas I would go more with Tru Kitchen and Kocktails. For activities there are several things to do; karaoke, skating, escape rooms, axe throwing, open mic nights and adult based fun places like Playground Bar, Top Golf, and Barcadia.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my mom who has loved me from the beginning and never missed an opportunity to support me. I want to also shoutout my husband for being the perfect man and a consistent partner in this ever changing world.
