Meet Cassandra Naylor | Designer, Cosmetologist & Nurse

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassandra Naylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cassandra, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want my legacy to be that the possibilities are truly endless. I want to be remembered for never accepting the box and its limits and coloring outside the lines. Not for the sake of being a rebel but for the sake of not doing anything because it is status quo or what is expected of me but always according to purpose.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always designed as an outlet, most of my designing is fashion/beauty related that’s what I enjoy most but I dabble in home decor and furniture restoration. I have always made jewelry and clothing for myself, revamped thrifted clothing to make it my own style, etc. After years of people asking where I got items from or requesting me to make items for them I decided to add the fashion element to Concealed Crowns. The designing part is easy but the business portion is challenging. The legal stuff, promoting and consistency it takes to grow and stay relevant is hard. It is not an overnight success and I lack patience sometimes. The pressure of creating for others can be a lot, I had to work on my confidence. I still struggle with finding balance with family life, working as a nurse and creating a professional work ethic for my business.
Concealed Crowns initially was my cosmetology business but I decided to expand it to include all things I’m passionate about. September 5, 2020 Concealed Crowns Fashions was born, I also use Concealed Crowns to spread awareness about mental health and self esteem.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is hard! Dallas is a whole mood, there is so much to do and I’m still quite new here. Kyle park is amazing and they have events and food trucks. I recently visited Deep Ellum and I feel like you could spend the day there just walking and site seeing. We had Stirr for lunch and Jeni’s ice cream for dessert. Six Flags of course if that’s your thing, the Water Garden (Fort Worth) so beautiful and serene, Legacy Food Hall, RH rooftop restaurant, (yes most of my favorite places are eateries haha). If my friend were visiting we would definitely try things I’ve yet to do. The bike tour and escape room are on my to do list.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I must shout-out my guys, because of them I feel seen and loved! My husband Matt has been my greatest support in my endeavors as an entrepreneur. My sons Benji and Kai are my inspiration, they influence me to be my full authentic self. I’ve always felt different and sometimes that made me timid, because they are autistic I know they will have their own struggles navigating a nuerotypical world. I want to set an example for them so they will know no limits when it comes to showing up in the world as they are.
