Hi Carlin, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk is such a small word but it is a powerful word. When my husband and I decided that we wanted to make our salon a reality, we decided to take the risk and go all in blonde…. Moved from Seattle to Nocona, Texas was a risk all by itself. The thing about-risks is they have huge losses, and the gains are blind. I moved and would either lose my success and career in Washington for a sub par life in Texas. It would he the Best decision & With GREAT Returns ; 1. My Husband 2. My Partner 3. My Best Friend
We just dove right into creating our businesses. My dream Salon Would be “Blonde AF”…. .. Risky!
TDLR was when I realized small Texas Towns like Decatur might not like or receive the name and what it means. I had some lady call my husband and I very hateful things and call Blonde AF the “Demise of Decatur” and Promise that there is no success for us here! We took the Risk and we are GROWING! Looking at a second Location and Growing our Brand. Blonde AF State of Mind is so much more than hair!! Taking Risks = Unknown Future and Not Taking Risks = Unknown Future

My husband and business partner, Josh, has taught me to follow the Path of Authenticity. He inspires me and Supports me and he took a Risk on me when no one else would.

Being a Hair Stylist is so much more than just doing hair. I want to be my clients safe space. Bring your blues and let me turn them Blonde AF! When you look AMAZING, You can Accomplish Anything! I have been to Hell and Back. I am a recovered Heroin Addict going on 5 years of Sobriety! I have saved lives doing hair. Blonde AF State of Mind is a place to find “You” A Place of Zero judgment where we Laugh, Cry and Love while Looking Amazing! I have learned that you never know what tomorrow holds so Live in A Blonde AF State of mind Now!!!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Decatur is growing so much! It is the newest addition to DFW!

Day 1: Breakfast at Brandy’s on the square.
Coffee from ROASTERs and then walk around the square and check out all the shops!
Lunch at State Pizza (so good)
Then a Nap at my Air BNB that is private and rustic!
dinner at Sweetie Pies Ribeyes and drinks followed at The County Seat Social
Day 2 Breakfast at The RoastARaunt! then Off to Blonde AF to get hair done and pampered!
lunch at Famous Whistle Stop
visit Nocona Texas then back to Roosters for dinner!!
so much here in Decatur!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Husband has been my Rock! He is my equal owning Partner in our Company & my best friend. Josh Jaster is my safe place. He is my inspiration. He held me up when I thought I was defeated and told me that I am safe now because he was here and that together we will create our future together. And He Meant it! My Momma & Kendra for being my Ride or Die for life!
