We had the good fortune of connecting with C. Nichole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nichole, every day, we hear about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business
During my non-profit trips within Africa and Latin America, I learned about the significant number of females who miss their studies simply because they don’t have or can’t afford menstrual products. I started reaching out to menstrual pad companies but soon realized that they either weren’t responding or weren’t willing to sell bulks of pads at wholesale prices. My attitude has always been that I’m not going to keep asking someone repeatedly for something that I need; I’ll just get it done myself. That’s how Wombilee came about, I needed pads for others, and I said why not make something better that even I can use, because if I can use it, I know other women can.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Wombilee is the only 100% woman-owned brand on this hemisphere that has Graphene in its pads. Graphene is one of the thinnest known materials and also one of the strongest. It’s stronger than steel and lighter than paper. It’s highly versatile, with elastic as well as thermal and conductive properties; vibrational energy. It’s lightweight, flexible, resilient, and breathable. In Wombilee’s pads, Graphene helps with circulatory health, metabolic health, and cell activity, helping to balance the body’s pH. Destroys the bacterial cell membrane and inhibiting bacteria. Anti-static and conductive which helps in transferring heat to prevent skin itching.

Wombilee’s pads also have 7 layers of protection which offers breathability, while keeping you dry and odorless. Our Moderate (regular) pads hold up to 150 milliliters, while our Heavy (super) pads hold up to 200 milliliters. Most pads on the market don’t even hold up to 10 milliliters (10 grams).

We also have a giveback feature, so when purchasing with Wombilee, you’re helping fight period poverty by giving back to a womb in need.

The idea came about in May 2021 and we launch in March 2022. The turnaround was so quick that every day it’s something to do. It’s not easy, but with goals and a plan, it’s manageable. I’ve learned to reiterate to myself that nothing happens overnight, and everything takes time, so give it the time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I enjoy Trinity Groves because of all the eateries, from Tex-Mex to BBQ, and more. The Downtown Dallas skyline view from the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge is unbeatable. Then a nice stroll at Klyde Warren Park is great to spend time chatting it up. Top the night off in Deep Ellum with either a show or another eatery. I’m not a drinker but most people I know are and there are tons of bars to choose from.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to Shoutout the non-profit Pan African Think Tank. Without traveling with the organization and recognizing the problems surrounding women and access to feminine products, Wombilee wouldn’t have even been thought about.
