We had the good fortune of connecting with Bryan Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bryan, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I believe my work life balance is nonexistent. I am working on my business 24/7 365 days a year. I also manage to work for a corporate company 5 days a week. I take care of my children everyday and guide them for success. I believe being a full time everything will pay off over time. I tend to say no to things that are not productive in my life. I have created a world of my own and I tend to stay in it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is everything to my existence. I see my children creating things now that continue to inspire my desire to create. I started off with a camera working my family events. Then I transitioned into professional work through networking throughout Arkansas. I slowly but surely began working on film sets and learning as much as I could. After a year of working with others I decided it was time to start creating my own. I figured the best way to do anything is to jump in and figure out how to swim. Well after 10 films I believe I’m starting to get an understanding of the waters. I film daily, including feature films, short films, weddings, and photography. I believe in the importance of learning and sharing my understanding and experience with my team. As of now my art supported everything in my life and everyone in my life.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Dallas, Texas is slowly becoming a second home to me outside of Little Rock, Arkansas. I have worked in many cities creating a culture of filmmaking. I would say I have the most fun finding locations to film in Texas. We would spend a week making movies in some secret places. I love beautiful views so all my sets are extravagant and extraordinary. I would enjoy creating with a group of talented individuals.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout the women in my life that never quit on me. Starting with my mother dealing with my attitude and fearlessness at a young age. She worked just as hard as my father when it came to correcting me and guiding me to a respectable life. Her intuition made the difference when I think back about times I knew I used wisdom I got directly from them. So both parents in this case deserve a forever shoutout.
