We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittney Stone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittney , we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I live in a relatively small area compared to Dallas, and I noticed there wasn’t a calling for makeup artists who just specialized in makeup and who were willing to travel. A friend of mine hired me for her wedding and that was my first professional job outside of Sephora where I was truly freelancing and it changed my life. I thought, I can do this, I can make a living this way if I work hard enough and put everything into this career and trust me when I say that I have put blood, sweat, and tears into my business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a freelance makeup artist and spray tan artist in the North Texas area. I am completely mobile and can get you glam not only to look like your best self but also quickly! I’m also a full time esthetician student and a full time mother to two wonderful boys. My career has been so awesome in such a short amount of time. I have worked with so many wonderful artists and so many wonderful people on their special days. I started out doing everything free or for very cheap. Just anything to get my name out and I just kept working and working and building my name and reputation until I could charge enough to make a living. With the Coronavirus happening, it’s been extremely hard on my business financially and also emotionally. So many clients cancelling their special moments in life and it breaks my heart. I know that this is an opportunity for growth and expansion and this just makes me push harder for myself, my family and to improve even more for my clients for when we’re ready to be back to celebrating!

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I’m someone who likes to see what kind of mood people are in and where they imagine themselves being. I do this a lot with my clients as well. I’ll ask them to give me a place they have in mind their going or a vibe or a look they’re trying to capture. So if they were feeling like great cocktails, I would take them to Parliament. It’s one of my favorite spots and the drink selection is amazing. If they wanted to go see an underground show and drink local beer, I would take them to Double Wide. It’s one of my favorite places to go to have a great time and cut loose. If they wanted to play some games and have a friendly competition, I would definitely take them to FreePlay or Bishop Cidercade. Couldn’t decide between the two because I love them both!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shout out to my children. I have two boys who have parents that chose to work hard and have the careers they wanted and not forced to have. I want to show them that they can do whatever they want in life if you work hard and be kind to everyone they meet.
