We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Burgo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose to peruse an artistic and creative career because I wanted to inspire others and the world around me. This past year I lost my best friend and then my dad. Losing them both in such a short amount of time really took a toll on my mental health. I decided to open Inspired Brew because I knew that I could spread courage and love through our coffee art. You never know what someone is going through and I love to see that I’ve made someone smile just by printing something beautiful or words of enough on their coffee.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is the love I pour into my art. Anyone can make a latte but what we do at Inspired Brew is get people to stop and let the art astonish them before even taking a sip of our amazing coffee. What I’m most proud and excited about is that no matter what kind of day a person is having they leave with a smile. How I got where I am today was through loss. After losing two such important people in my life I made the decision to move my family from Michigan to Texas. It was not easy to let go but we sold our dream home and said goodbye to the bitter cold Michigan weather for a brighter future in Texas. The lessons I have learned along the way is to follow your instincts and to not give up even if you’ve think that you have lost everything there is still hope. What I want the world to know about my story is that mental health is so important and it’s our goal to uplift and encourage others to smile and keep going.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my best friends is a mom of young kids like me so we would do something more kid friendly where we could catch up without boring the little ones. We would take a trip to Playstreet Museum in McKinney. It’s such a cute artsy play area where the kids can run around or make slime and paint pottery or draw while us moms chat. For a week long trip since I’m fairly new to Dallas we would try some new places out together for the first time. I would definitely take a trip to the Dallas farmers market and find some great parks to enjoy some sunshine.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my husband Jason for really believing in my dream and helping me every step of the way, for roasting all of our shop’s coffee so that our customers always have freshly roasted coffee. His support means the world to me and I could not thank him enough.  My family also deserves thanks for loving and encouraging me as well. I also give thanks to my beautiful little girls Avelina and Amaia for being my motivation to keep going and staying strong for them.
