We had the good fortune of connecting with Bridgit Kingsbery and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bridgit, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?

The passion behind Rags for Ransom Boutique is to help women, of all shapes & sizes, look & feel beautiful everyday.

My goal is to inspire & motivate women to know they are worthy of all of the good the world has to offer, to love themselves and to know, without a doubt, that they are beautiful.

Style is not limited to a specific shape or size, despite what the fashion world & social media wants us to believe.

We are all perfectly imperfect and beautiful in every way.

As women, we have been trained to think that beauty is thin, beauty is shapeless, beauty is expensive, beauty is on the cover of magazines & on the runways and that beauty is only on the outside.

I am trying to end this stigma and open the eyes & minds of every woman I encounter.

Rags for Ransom Boutique inspires and encourages women to create a Personal Style, letting all of what is uniquely her shine.

Many women feel that Style is unattainable.

I teach & encourage my clients to try new things, dress their current body (not the one they hope to have one day), and purchase clothing that enhances their shape and highlights the Personal Style they are trying to achieve.

I offer Boho, Casual, Classic & Edgy styles in sizes S-3X, which appeal to every woman, no matter her shape or size. Styles that work for everyday and are attainable and easy to put together.

Currently I offer a Personal Style Assessment for current or potential clients that need a little help figuring out which pieces & styles work and don’t work for them.

As Rags for Ransom Boutique continues to grow, I aspire to add even more affordable Personal Style Services to my clients, to assist them in creating a Personal Style, putting outfits together and learning what works for their specific body.

My ultimate goal is to see a world full of confident, well-dressed women, who’s beauty shines from the inside out!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I have always loved fashion and wanted to be a designer when I was young. As it does, life got in the way, and my dream was put on the back burner.

I have had a lot of different roles over the course of my professional career. I have worked mostly in administrative or managerial positions in an office setting. I have also had the opportunity to grow & enhance my creative side as a former self-taught Graphic Designer and Home Stager.

When my boys graduated High School and went to college, I was a little lost. For 18 years, I was a mom. That’s it.

I sort of lost my way, as a woman. I struggled for almost a year to find myself again. It wasn’t easy and it wasn’t fun.

I opened Rags for Ransom Boutique in October of 2018 after being inspired by a friend. In a roundabout way, my childhood dream of being a designer had found its way back to me.

I have still remained at my full time Office Manager position with a local roofing company.

Needless to say, I work all of the time!

I feel that all of my admin/business experience throughout my career, along with my former creative positions, has given me the opportunity to be a successful boutique owner. I am able to have fun and be creative as well as take care of all of the “not so fun” accounting and business stuff required.

Having a supportive husband has been one of the greatest blessings for Rags for Ransom Boutique. He understands what it takes to start & run a business and when to tell me I need to take a minute to breathe.

I want women to know that, before anything, you are a woman first. You may be a wife or a partner or a mother, but above & beyond all of those other roles in life, you are a woman.

Do not lose that. Do not let go of that. Be all of those other things. 100%. Just remember that you are so much more than those other things.

Secondly, if you have a dream. Never let it die. Never let that flame burn out.

Life has a funny way of taking us in so many directions and then back to our starting point. You just never know when or where that will take place.

Don’t stop dreaming.

Believe in yourself.

Find an unbreakable support system.

Your time will come. Be patient.

And when it does…DO IT!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

I would suggest that anyone visiting the DFW area, stays off of 635, if at all possible!

We love live music and good food!

We’d have to check out a Rangers game.

Visit the Truck Yard in the Colony, have a few yummy cheesesteaks and listen to some good tunes.

We will spend some time shopping & strolling through the Grandscape, Legacy West and the Shops at Legacy.

Any visitor or newbie to the area, has to get a burger & fries from the Burger House in Snider Plaza, since it is part of our family legacy and has the best food!

If there’s time, we are definitely taking a trip to Cowtown to check out the Stockyards, Billy Bob’s, Coyote Drive-In and Sundance Square.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I hope I can SHOUTOUT to several people who have made this amazing journey possible for me!

Shoutout #1- I have to, before anyone else, thank my incredible husband, Clent, for his unwavering support. He is behind me 100% in all that I do and has more confidence in me than even I do, most days.

Shoutout #2- My sister, Robin Nickel, owner of the Polished Nickel Travel, has been my biggest cheerleader from day one! She is constantly sharing my message, referring to me others and even purchasing most of her wardrobe from Rags for Ransom Boutique. Without her cheerleading, it would have taken me so much longer to get to where I am today!

Shoutout #3- My friend & unofficial business coach, Christine Bahe, host of  “You Got To Meet Her!” Podcast has been such a blessing to me personally, as well as to the growth of Rags for Ransom Boutique. All of her pushing & prodding & questioning & thoughts & suggestions, have made me a better person and a smarter business owner!

Shoutout #4- My amazing clients! I couldn’t do what I love everyday if it weren’t for all of my amazing, loyal clients who keep me motivated & inspired to keep going.
