We had the good fortune of connecting with Brianne Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brianne, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my business to pursue something that I was passionate about! Photography was always a hobby of mine, but life happened and my camera was collecting dust on the shelf and I wasn’t feeling very self fulfilled. Then one day when a friend asked me to second shoot a wedding for her I still remember how excited I was! It took off from there and I started taking education courses, investing in better gear, photographing anyone who would let me, and taking any photography related job that came my way! Through it all I found my true passion in photographing couples and weddings and I have never looked back! I have learned that the more I put into my business, the more joy I have found in serving my clients!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am what most people call a “light and airy” photographer, but I like to think I am still my own unique brand within that category of photography! I don’t have any popular photography presets from other photographers, but I have developed my own personal shooting and editing style into what it is today! I have a love for all things bright and joyful and I love to incorporate these components into my photography. It has been a long journey with a lot of doubtful moments and tearful days! I eventually learned to not get so caught up in the creative side of things and to find success in focusing on the business side of things, despite the fact that this does not come naturally to me! Finding my “why” in my business has also helped me to grow as a photographer and serve my clients better! As a wife myself, I truly value marriage and cherish the commitment that my couples make with each other and I want to document their love story for them. Real love stories that are captured in a timeless style and cherished for generations to come!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am all about my food so that would be top priority for me! I’d take them to Costa Vida, Shogun, Legacy Food Hall, Hutchin’s Barbecue and a lot of trips to Bahama Bucks! For nostalgia sake I’d want to take them to Six Flags, one of my favorite places I remember going when growing up in Dallas! I love the Dallas Skyline so a trip to Margaret Hunt Bridge or Reunion Tower. I also love the Dallas World Aquarium, Klyde Warren Park, and the Nasher Sculpture Center!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A huge shoutout to my husband, Scott! I am a wedding photographer and a stay at home mom to three littles and my husband always picks up the slack when the two jobs interfere! Being a photographer, especially a wedding photographer specifically, means that I am gone a lot of evenings and weekends throughout the year and sometimes during the week as well. Scott is so supportive and encouraging of both me and my business and he is the reason I am able to make both of my dream jobs, being a mom and a photographer, a reality!
