We had the good fortune of connecting with Brent Rankin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brent, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
A common misconception that I hear all the time is, “credit repair companies can’t do anything you can’t do”. While this may have some physical truth to it, knowledge is power. Most of our clients have tried to repair their credit on their own before deciding to use our service. Oftentimes, they are surprised that we can get results that they could not get on their own. Understanding the laws is one of the things that separates us from DIY struggles and other credit repair companies. Yes, anyone can learn the laws, but it takes time, effort, and real-world application to use them to your benefit.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own a Mortgage Company (Rankin Home Loans) and a Credit Service Organization (Cheating Debt). We specialize in helping our customers navigate credit challenges to reach their goals. Most of our clients have a goal of becoming a homeowner, so we naturally assist them in that aspect as well. There’s no better feeling than helping someone maximize their credit to purchase their first home. I started with solely providing credit services but realized my customers had questions and needed advice that I couldn’t authentically provide about the home buying process. I wanted to create. a safe resource that was more focused on education than the sales script. There have been innovation challenges along the way for both companies are in highly regulated industries. We are still in the process of expanding both businesses to provide even more credit and homebuyer education.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would have them check out Top Golf, Game Theory Restaurant + Bar, Texas Star Dinner Theater and give them a couple of local escape rooms. They also have to check out Fort Worth Stock Yards and eat all-you-can-eat ribs at Risky’s.
Some of our favorite places to eat in DFW are MidiCi The Neapolitan Pizza Company, Del Campo Empanadas, Cuco’s Sandwich Shop, El Mofongo Restaurant.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife, Sheala Rankin deserves a huge shoutout and recognition in my story. She has been with me every step of the way. Helping me build our brand and businesses. She was the first one that took the leap of faith to leave her corporate job to stay home with the kids while we build our business. She handles all of our marketing and brings a lot of creativity to our small power team.
