We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Berry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
When I decided to transition into entrepreneurship, I based it on embracing risk. I was unsure how entrepreneurship would work for me, but I’ve managed to take that risk, leverage it, turn it into a profitable business, and maintain it up until now. I’ve collaborated with small-town companies and nationally recognized organizations throughout my journey. Risk is the foundation and continues to push me to discover what I can produce.

What should our readers know about your business?
Lamar’s Bakery is a luxury cake artist & caterer in Gainesville, FL; owned by locals, Brandon & Alisha Berry. Lamar’s Bakery thrives in serving classic and mouth-watering cakes, paired with luxe to help make your festival considerably increasingly unique!Relatability plays an important role in the success of Lamar’s. I can relate to business owners and consumers; which allows me to network more efficiently. With-in networking, I’ve fostered a community of people that refer me to any opportunity. Word-Of-Mouth is still strong in entrepreneurship if can relate, show compassion, and understand that we’re all in this together. I wouldn’t say that this road has been easy, it’s definitely had its challenges but I have the most supportive circle of business minded friends who has made their footprint and I lean on them heavily when I need guidance. One of the best lessons I’ve learned is; stay humble. God has been a major key in my success. Whenever I’ve tried to boast or brag, God humbles me quickly. I’ll never forget where I’ve come from. Lastly, I want the world to know about Lamar’s Modern Bakery & Bistro is that we take pride in every order. Every layer of cake, every layer of frosting, every fig & prosciutto crostini is made with love. We stride for excellence with every client. We don’t settle and we always go the extra mile.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One thing for sure about my friends, they know we going to eat and DRINK! Now that I’m older my palate is little different. We’d enjoy some nice tapas at Local Provisions, then we’d head over to fluid to enjoy some nice drafts. Weekend time we’d more than likely bar hop downtown and shoot some pool. On Sunday we’d head to my family church New Abundant Life to get a good word.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife & daughter. My two biggest motivators outside of my very supportive family and friends. Everything I do, it’s for them. It’s to set my family up for a very successful future. I’m motivated daily because of them.
