We had the good fortune of connecting with Bianca Judie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bianca, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am originally from Riverside, California. We moved a lot when I was growing up. Our first major move was from California to Rockford, Illinois and then Fort Worth, Texas. I feel it’s given me a variety of tools to use when creating Art. My palette is not slim and I’ve interacted with a plethora of cultures and personalities. I love that about my upbringing.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I thought to start learning to tattoo, I knew it would be hard but I never imagined that I would still be here. As a Female Tattoo Artist, I’ve seen and heard it all. There’s a million people that have tried to stop my dream or tell me there’s no place for women in this industry. That idea alone has fueled me to surpass everyone around me and that is what sets me apart. I love challenges so I take pride in the fact that I am well-versed in tattoo styles and art styles. My Art can be a slight look into the dark side of my mind, with a quirky twist. I’m happy to be able to show the world how I see everything in my mind and be felt. Because of this, I’ve made it a mission to push the girlies to show their Art and make women and people of color feel comfortable again in Tattoo Studios. Currently I manage an all-Female Artist Tattoo Studio in Dallas. Working with other women and pushing them to go harder fulfills me. Being a Tattoo Artist is more than just giving people what they ask for and sending them on their way. I connect with my clients, wether I’ve helped them through tough times, boosted their confidence, gave them a memorial piece or even just a laugh. These are things that keep me going! I feel rich.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In all honesty, I am pretty lax. A fun day with me would look like; sun-soaking at the beach (or lake) with some music, drinks and a book. I have to stop at the coffee shop! Next would be a museum, gallery or some nature-watching. A nice cap would be the Coyote drive-in, in downtown Fort Worth. Smooth.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Above all I would thank my sister, Brooke for being the best big sister I could cry out for. Without all of the love and trust you poured into my Art, I would not be here. A huge thanks has to be given to an old friend, LaShanda, because without her I would have never thought to make a business out of my Art, let alone think to start a Tattoo Apprenticeship. Lastly, thanks to my soul mate, Jigga for pushing me to never stop no matter the odds, and creating a Tattoo Business with me that will bless our kids for a lifetime. For these things, I will forever be thankful.
