Meet Backpack Beatz | Producer, DJ & Radio Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Backpack Beatz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Backpack, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I created No More Free Beatz, I wanted people to take my craft seriously. Everyone wants to get paid from their passion, producing music is mine. When I say No More Free Beatz, you should replace Beatz with whatever you’re passionate about. Free isn’t just monetary gain. Experience, opportunity, networking, among others are things that are gained.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think one thing that sets my production apart from others is that I’m able to keep the soul & spirit of hip-hop, while staying new and youthful. I have the ability to make the most hip-hop beat ever, and make an emotional R&B record right after. The only way I’ve been able to get to where I am today is hard work and dedication, nothing more. One thing I’ve learned along the way is that you can’t trust everyone with your ideas and plans because some may not have positive intentions. One thing I want people to know about my brand is that whatever you do that you’re passionate about, don’t do it for free. Get something out of it, whether it’s opportunity, monetary gain, networking, services, etc.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Chicago is one of the greatest cities in the world! There are so many cultures here. You have to make sure to get a Chicago dog, just make sure you DON’T put ketchup on it. Harold’s has the best chicken wings. If you’re into pizza, make sure you go to Giordano’s also! Millennium Park is always a great tourist spot. Make sure you get a picture in front of The Bean. If you’re here during the summer, White Sox games are always a must. I’m a HUGE advocate of the WNBA, so make sure you catch a Sky game if they’re playing!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Anyone who has taken a chance on listening to my music, bought any merchandise, or told someone about the No More Free Beatz movement
