We had the good fortune of connecting with Audra Sullivan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Audra, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I am not sure what I was thinking as many of us do when we start our own business. Was it financial independence or being my own boss? Regardless of the why we realize that we are good at what we do. The one question we all asked is: Do we know how to actually start a business and be successful at it? Knowing the insurance business I realized my wealth of knowledge and experience would get me through any speed bumps I would encounter. I knew how to sell Insurance and I was very good at it. Loving what you do and having clients that see this makes it all worth it. I knew that a large part of the industry was educating the Consumer on Insurance. Knowing that I had a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Baylor University only added to my ability to work and assist with clients. Contributing to my decision on becoming a business owner was having an opportunity to participate and be apart of t the Legislative process. Tough times? Absolutely but I would not change it for the world.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a full service Insurance Agency.  Considered a “boutique” style agency that
specializes in small to medium size businesses.   We are meeting their recruiting and retention needs by partnering with them to build their perfect Employee Benefit package.  In essence helping them streamline the onboarding process, a true extension of their internal Human Resources department at no additional cost to the employer. As most business owners I have had many struggles and many failures. I believe that any failure made contributed to my current success.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My office is in the Arlington area of DFW considered the heart of the Metroplex.  There is so much to do and so little time to do it! First I would take them on Stadium tours of the new Globe Life Park and Cowboy Stadium. For drinks, Arlington Live is the perfect venue to experience an overall sports atmosphere and live music. There is a local sushi restaurant called BFF’s that has some of the best sushi. I always try to support as many local businesses as possible. For a real Cowboy experience I would take them to Billy Bob’s and the Stockyards located in the historic district of Fort Worth.  Experiencing the live cattle drive downtown is a must. Dallas is a different atmosphere and would take them to a local favorite Parigi’s.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people to thank as I am blessed to have so many friends colleagues and family that support and mentor me. I am proud to be a member and current President of the Texas Association of Health Underwriters. I have been past President of my local Fort Worth Association of Health Underwrites chapter where I have met many of my current friends that I now consider family. I have so many friends such as Tonya Booth, Danielle Roberts , Eric Johnson , Briscoe Dunn and Carolyn Goodwin who have helped me tremendously throughout my career. A few are no longer with us but their words of wisdom are still felt throughout my everyday life.
