We had the good fortune of connecting with Aubrey Price and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aubrey, how do you think about risk?
I am not a person that truly believes in the word Risk. What is a Risk? The definition of a Risk is a situation involving exposure to danger. My team and I are not individuals that are afraid of many things. I do not feel danger in the avenues that I seek achievement in. In my opinion a risk is simply a leap. Some may say a leap of faith. That leap or “risk” may be difficult but not impossible. You must get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Basically meaning you have to figure it out. You may find answers in uncomfortable places but you must get comfortable with the journey to the unknown. In order to succeed you have to live with the mindset that nothing is impossible. It is true. There is a possibility of failure. However, you will learn the steps that you need to take in order to succeed the next time. If I listened to the non-believers and non risk takers I wouldn’t have started my own successful clothing line (Above The Klouds) or I would not have started my sales company (All Out Price). Taking risks has put me in a position to change the trajectory of my life. My team and I just released a book that is out now on Amazon for purchase or Audio book called Affiliate Marketing Secrets Unlocked. A plethora of people told me that wouldn’t work either. Well we are now official and published! Gary Vee, a well known businessman, said, “Winning is not defined by me, your parents, or even the market, it is defined by you!” I determine my outcome and happiness. I will change my family’s life! So I grind and I grind hard. A man named Damien Mitchell told me there are 24hrs in a day so there are no excuses. I have never forgotten that quote from him and take it to heart in my everyday life. So we take “risks” and get things done by any means necessary.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Come SHOP! www.AboveTheKlouds.com! Official Launch date is Juneteenth! My business partner and I are art lovers. The art is pretty simple. I love Space, Klouds, and the unknown. My clothing is all about the unknown. Living in the grey area is what I call it. Being above all but for all. Having a clothing line is a lot of work because you have to change with the people and time periods. That is how many people fail. you have to change. You have to stay consistent and remain humble. There is no fast way to the top. Slow and steady will always win the race. When opportunities come you have to seize the day Carpe Diem. If you are reading this, and you want to start a business but you do not know where to start. I would suggest starting by filing for an LLC with incfile or Legal zoom. Both are 2 good entities to use. What sets me apart from others, in my opinion, is my relentless hustle and grind. I’m most proud of the “Risks” I took to get to where I am. It is never easy. If it were easy everyone would do it. You have to learn to love the word No! You have to go through several No’s to get to the Yes. I overcame challenges through fortitude and perseverance. You have to learn not to take no for an answer. You put your head down and move on to the next NO over and over and over again until you get your Yes. I have learned that people do not initially understand or follow your movement. For most people they need a little buzz or some controversy before they start to follow. We are creating all of that. The clothing speaks for itself. It is Dope! I want people to know when they wear my clothing they are representing ATK (Above The Klouds which was a vision that began Back in 2014. We thought we would make clothes for people who are above all, spacey, about self love, and carry themselves in an enlightened manner. We just want to show love and spread it. Now 2021 is halfway over and we are taking off.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am always going to show my people a great time when they come to my city. With a one week stay we will be able to take a tour of Dallas. Starting on Monday we will go to a museum. There are 3 museums I like to go to.We would choose from JFK Museum downtown, the African American Museum of Dallas, or the Dallas Museum of Arts. All 3 are Dallas Staples. Museums are an interactive way to learn a little about the city. Tuesday in Dallas should be called Taco Tuesday. We would go to Velvet Taco or Torchys on Greenville ave. If we want to have some drinks we can bar hop down Greenville avenue. Wednesday, depending on the season, I like to go to the Dallas Mavericks games. Since it is a weekday, tickets are cheaper and we can usually sit close to the floor. Thirsty Thursdays we must go to Happiest Hour downtown. The rooftop bar gives you great views of the city. That same day we can go to the Reunion Tower and check out the observation deck. Everyone likes pictures so Thursday is the day to get photo ready! Friday is a good day to go to the Statler. It is a premier downtown rooftop pool that you must go to in the spring and summer. Saturday we must go to 6 flags. When you buy the flash pass you skip the line and ride all day. That night we will hit the streets and get bottle service at a nightclub. Sunday Funday equals tailgate and Cowboy Games. There are several places I love to eat like, Tortilla Del Ranchero, Texas De Brazil, Al Biernets, and more. Regardless, just know we will be LIT!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people that I want to shout out. The first person I want to shout out is my Father! Last February he passed away. Rest In Peace! My dad showed me what hard work and dedication is and the keys to success and happiness. My mother Sylvia showed me unconditional love and how to persevere through adversity. Together they gave me Fortitude! My brother Thad and sister Erica showed me no matter where you come from you can be successful. My fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi, Yo Nupe, aided me in next level confidence. The fraternity gave me brothers, friendships, and confidence that I will have forever. One of my fraternity brothers Shawn Rice is the Co-Founder of Above the Klouds Clothing. My fiancé Aleena is my rock! She takes care of our family, she takes care of me, and she takes care of business. In both my businesses she wears several hats including sales and accounting. I can always count on her no matter what circumstance. Amira is my 1st born baby girl and she has shown me what Love really is! I am indebted and sincerely appreciate all these people that are in my life and many others I did not mention.
