We had the good fortune of connecting with Athena Rangel Fisher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Athena, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I tried different venues before beginning my Content Creator Path. Especially when Covid began, I tried several venues such as being a rep for a makeup brand, teaching yoga full-time. I was laid off several times due to Covid. I was looking for ways to have a part-time gig.

So when I began my path as a Content Creator I was not getting paid but it was a fun outlet for me. Trying out different products, being invited to different openings and restaurants. I liked being a content creator, I was networking online, in person.

So from there it’s grown to a side business. I enjoy it. I enjoy meeting others, talking to brands, marketing agencies. A marketing brand I work with has labeled me as a Lifestyle Influencer. Since I have different audiences it fits. My focus is in products, my lifestyle/my role as a mom and a being a foodie.

My most recent success was speaking about a product on a radio station. That was fun.

Whatever else comes my way…I’m ready!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It wasn’t easy and it’s been work. Being an influencer is like any job. It’s learning what your audience likes, what appeals. Before I set my content. I was literally all over the place. Having the Dallas Social Influencers has really helped shape me. It’s all about networking, making connections and friendships on Social media platforms!

Like any job it takes time, patience, making mistakes.

But what I have learned is to have fun, I do a IGTV series on drinks around time. I don’t wear makeup, I may not look the best..,I’m my real self. I have fun eating drinks., I have people who view. It’s not series, it’s just to
do something fun. It’s not connected to the business side of influencing it’s just for fun!

I’ve come a long way. I’ve been through a lot in the past years, that I hope to share one day. I’ve shared broad stories on my page every now and then.

But most importantly do something fun! Get out of your norm! Go for it!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One day would be devoted to Winstar or Choctaw. That’s a whole day trip. Trying out different drinks, grabbing a bite at the least packed place!

Definitely the Perot! I’ve been taking my son there for years. It’s for all ages! I enjoy it everytime I go. Eating at Hooters because it’s right there!

Nightlife would definitely be a trip to STEREOLIVE to listen to whomever is playing! EDM is one of my favorites.

A day in Deep Ellum and walking around! Finding a place to eat…so many options. I like trying different restaurants there. Stay late enough most places turn to bars/clubs!

Mudhook in Duncanville is one of my favorite places to stop for a drink and food! There is also the Cedar Ridge Preserve close by.. Hiking is also fun and the views are gorgeous!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The Dallas Social Influencer’s definitely deserve all the thanks for my path that I’m on. Joshlyn, the founder of the Dallas Social Influencers is one who has helped shape my Instagram page, pictures, the way I word my content. Jen and Crystal who has help run the Influencers have been a great source in helping me grow my brand! I can’t forget the babes that are part of the group. It’s great when we are all able to help each other!
