We had the good fortune of connecting with Asheera Horton Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Asheera, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
The greatest risk I think you take by being in the entertainment industry is the number of opportunities that are presented that can shift your focus. Which ultimately is to share your gift and stay true to who you are, but you have to be anchored by your morals and vision. All risks are not a yes moment, some risks are declining working with someone or opting out of a performance simply because it doesn’t match your vision. For me risks are necessary but wisdom first.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a singer/songwriter. But I am so much more than that alone. I am a writer, business owner, disciple, and woman. I am most excited for the music and all around content that is in the making. My ep will be coming this summer and it will be epic. The greatest challenge to over come is accepting me, as I am. And all that is exactly what I want to share the lessons, the growth and wisdom through the gifts he gave. Who God made me. One thing I want people to take from my brand and the ever unfolding story of me is be the genuine original pure you, without all the outside influence.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m still getting acquainted with the city myself there’s so much to try. But when it comes to food I’d definitely be checking out Spiral diner, Cosmic cafe, freeman’s pub. So many places on Greenville ave. Definitely go indoor skydiving, I’m not huge on rollarcoasters but there is 6 Flags. Lots of events, performances and concerts happening too.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Above all I thank God for guidance and protection, I’m grateful for my supportive family. My mother especially and the friends that have been placed in my life. Having a few good hearted people around that really love me helps me keep going. It’s important to have people who believe that all things are possible, people willing to grow, take risks and keep the intention pure.
