We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariel Hartley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ariel, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I’m inspired by being on the road, traveling to different cities, connecting to nature, strange phenomenon, colorful patterns, old castles, space, a good night with friends, trippy art, funky clothes, being in the water, live music, dancing, the human connection, and witnessing others’ resilience and triumphs.Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m proud that I have been able to travel the country and perform with some of my favorite bands with my best friends. All of the people I’ve met and the experiences I’ve gained has made the musical journey extremely rich. It definitely hasn’t been easy, especially now more than ever with the pandemic and the current death of live music. Right now my band mates all live in 3 separate states so it has been a struggle to get together physically but we’re still recording a new album. We are looking forward to finishing that! A lesson I’ve learned is that success is relative and cannot be measured.Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Kalachandji’s is a must when visiting Dallas, I really love the courtyard patio it’s a really special place. I think the Texas Theatre is super neat, I love the aesthetic and it is historic! Some other favorite eating spots are Ten Ramen, Bam’s Vegan, Uchi, And Velvet Taco. If it weren’t for Covid, Three Links is my favorite venue to do a walk by and see who’s playing in Deep Ellum. The Dallas Farmer’s Market is fun to check out and a visit to Dolly Python is always fruitful! During pre- pandemic times, making a day out of going to Carrollton to go to either Spa Castle or King Spa and then over to H-Mart and eating at one of the surrounding restaurants is one of my favorite north Texas things to do. With Denton being my true stomping grounds, I always recommend Harvest House for the patio, Paschall’s for the fancy cocktails, Barley and Board for the appetizers, and Dan’s Silverleaf for Dan the man himself and some of my favorite people who work and hangout there. Though I currently live out of state I miss romping around the area very much, it will always be home. .
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have so many good friends from all over the United States and I am really lucky for their support and encouragement. There are too many amazing comrades to recognize but I will give a shout out to my bandmates, my brother Eli, Ellie Alonzo, Gus Baldwin, Claire Morales, Laura Lee Brott, Alex Bhore, Brack Cantrell, Kayla Epstein, Tatum Wright, Dreamy Life Records, Mas Music Records, Dan’s Silverleaf and The Electric Church to name a few.
