We had the good fortune of connecting with Anita Ivancevic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anita, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
When I was starting Dallas Gift Wrap Creations there was literally no such thing as work life balance, but this has changed over the years as the company has grown. In being a founder, I was wearing all the hats, all the time. Additionally, there wasn’t a road map of any kind for a business of this type – a high end, concierge gift wrapping service. If I thought it, I had to build it and figure out a way to implement and execute my strategy. In conjunction with coming up with unique and creative gift wrapping designs for our clients, I also had to come up with the operational flow of the business… how does it work? I became obsessed with perfecting the product and the client experience. I do believe that to be very successful, you have to be extraordinarily obsessed with your own vision and work on it day in and day out. It can be off-putting and limit your bandwidth for other things and interests but there isn’t very much room for halfway measures when you’re trying to get something off the ground. Timing is also crucial as you have to build on your wins and momentum.

Today, the company operates efficiently with a team and procedures in place enabling us to meet our clients’ needs. But none of these strategies could have been implemented without the very long start up days/nights and trial and errors of figuring out how to make my vision work.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Dallas Gift Wrap Creations is a concierge gift wrapping service; we pick up, we wrap and we deliver. We provide gift wrapping services with the option of delivering wrapped gifts back to our clients, delivering directly to their recipients/events or shipping out on our clients’ behalf anywhere in the world. Additionally, we provide on-site gift wrapping services and travel based on our clients’ unique needs. Our clients enjoy the convenience of not having to leave their home or office for beautifully wrapped gifts. This becomes essential particularly during the holiday season when let’s face it, does anyone need one more thing to do? And with online shopping and shipping capabilities, some of our clients are not even located in Dallas. They shop online and direct ship to us, we wrap and ship out. At its core, Dallas Gift Wrap Creations is founded on the principal of adding value and being of service to our clients. I have learned many things along the way but the most rewarding has been seeing how the company has flourished and grown. I never could have imagined that Dallas Gift Wrap Creations was serving clients all over the country and beyond.

Best places eat: Monarch, Sēr, Eatzis, Parigi, Haystack, Paradisio and though it’s a big chain, CAVA! Best places to be pampered: Jen Aubrey Aesthetics, ERA Salon and the Warwick-Melrose Spa. Cinepolis for the latest in movies! Best place to stay: Warwick-Melrose.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom and dad, Nermina & Goran deserve a LOT of recognition as they have supported Dallas Gift Wrap Creations since day one. They supported me in very tangible and meaningful ways that allowed me to focus on and grow my company.
