We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Corres and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrea, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the main factor is my openness to learning. In my 14 years of experience in the hair industry, I’ve never once thought that I have it all figured out because I definitely don’t. There’s always room for improvement. With my clients, I encourage them to be completely honest about any likes/dislikes when it comes to the outcome of their hair. This not only can improve my technical skills but also my communication skills. I genuinely love what I do and care about making my clients happy! Happy clients rave about you to others which brings in more clientele!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being that I was young when I got my cosmetology license, I wasn’t always 100% sure that this would be my career. It hasn’t always been taken as a serious career, so I felt the need to do something else. But my heart was always with it so I decided to give it my all 7 years ago & have not looked back. Super thankful for my journey and where I’m at today! I’m a huge overthinker so getting to this point was not easy. I had to truly speak some positivity into this anxious mind of mine. Surrounding myself with people who believe in me has been a huge factor. I’ve learned how much that matters, energy is contagious!
I want people to know that I give 100% to my business, it’s a representation of me so I’m always going to do everything to the best of my abilities. If you’re not satisfied, tell me because that’s only going to make me better… at the end of the day, I’m here to make sure each and every client is completely happy with me and my service!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There is so much to do in the DFW! I would definitely take them to a Cowboys game at the AT&T Stadium! I would also spend a day at Klyde Warren Park; there’s food trucks, live music, and different activities going on every day! For lunch I’d definitely have to take them to Eno’s Pizza Tavern in Bishop Arts District, it’s my fav pizza spot. And some ice cream afterwards, right down the street at Azucar Ice Cream Company!
I’d also take them to a nice steakhouse dinner with a view at Monarch Dallas.
For a place with good drinks, Dahlia on Ross & a place with nice views & drinks, Happiest Hour.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely my family, friends & loyal clients, who have always been very supportive & are always sending referrals to keep my business growing.
My parents, growing up I watched them work so hard and make sacrifices to be able to get my siblings and I everything we needed plus more. So because of that, a good work ethic was instilled in me & I strive to give my daughter the best possible life I can give her!
My husband, his belief in me is what pushed me to take the leap and become a small business owner. His constant encouragement and positive words keep me going! I dream bigger now because of him!
