We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Aceto and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After designing swimwear in the fashion industry for over 20 years, I was looking for a creative outlet. I have always been a candle lover and after discovering my favorite candle from a big candle company was going out of production I decided to take a candle making class. Three months later Cera Soy Candles was born and I was producing my first candle collection.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have taken my knowledge and creativity from the fashion industry and used those skills to make a Brand. From unique scents to packaging, keeping up with trends and using my knowledge from concept to production to shipping. Start to finish. I take pride in using the best products/components on the market even if that means my candles are a little more expensive then others.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have been here in the DFW for a little over 3 years now and the list of places I’d like to go is extensive now! So I would definiltey be going places for the first time as well. Some of my favorite restaurants that Ive been to are Rise in clearfork (great area) Istanbul Grill, Pacific Table, Paris coffee shop (my family must go there for breakfast when they come to town). I love sushi (west coast girl) Blue sushi, Looking for an amazing pizza, cant wait to try the Son of a baker pizzaria. Maple branch brewery is one of my favorite places ever. They have been a HUGE supporter of mine and will forever be grateful for that. Lockwood distillery is great. Holly wine bar, Nickel city for sliders and definetly go at christmas! I LOVE hotel Dryce, I like small boutique places like that .We of course have amazing museums here. I am sure there are a million other places to go and eat but those are just some off the top of my head.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family has always supported my dreams and goal of having this business. They have always been there to cheer me on in successful times and there to lend an ear when things are slow and im exhausted from working two jobs and trying to make this a successful business. I am also a pilates instructor (14 years now) and my pilates clients/friends have been HUGE supporters of my business. Always buying candles from me and keeping me encouraged that I have a great product.
