We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamara Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamara, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was laid off and decided I have 3 girls and my husband has lost 50%off his pay, life still goes on and I have to show my daughters how to do it with Grace, even when it’s grimy and hard.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The name of my business is “Squeaky Clean”. It all started due to Covid. I started out with a flyer on Facebook and word of mouth. It wasn’t easy and I bought my supplies from the dollar store when I first started. Now that I’ve grown, I buy from janitorial sites and stores. I’ve learned to be persistence and to always follow-up with leads. I want the world to know that when we clean their home or business, we take pride in what we are doing and want to feel like we have restored their homes and business and give them a peace of mind when we have left.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting I would take them to the zoo, a movie that serves drinks in Grand Prairie and to hear music at Greedy’s in Desoto, TX.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Thanks to my husband and a great group of women pushing me like : SequoiSe Givens, Kashuana Jenkins, Canesha Hicks and Tonitura Kelley. I was able to push forward and not listen to naysayers. They stood behind me and told me to go for it and sent me cash apps and shared my business page.
