We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Visconte and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand I would say is, honesty. Being upfront about what it is going to take to achieve the goal my guest has in mind and also about pricing or what their financial investment will look like. As a hairstylist, we want the best for our clients so we tend to shy away from being upfront about anything that might be uncomfortable. some of that being what we charge or what we can achieve for them in a single session. I think another important factor in the success of my business is providing services that goes beyond the chair. Whether that is answer 20 questions over text messages at night to ease a clients mind over what they want or need done. Following up and making sure each guest is happy and not being afraid to open the door for adjustments if they feel they need it. My ultimate goal is that every guest leaves taken care of and overjoyed with not only their hair but the experience they had with me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a hairstylist, and I think what sets me apart from others is, I never stop growing or challenging myself. I am highly critical of my work, in a good way. To me there is ALWAYS something to improve on. Even in my best work i can find something that could have been better. I think what I am most proud of and excited about is my new salon suite that I am in! It’s the first space I have worked in that is truly my own and its been such a joy being able to create the atmosphere design wise, and the overall vibe of the space. It has definitely been a journey to get where I am today. I took a ton of risks some that turned out far better than others but ultimately led me to where I am today. It was definitely not easy and a way that I overcame these challenges was being flexible and to persevere. I needed to be patient with where I was in the seasons I found myself in, not compare my journey with anyone else, and having faith when everything felt like it was a shot in the dark. Some lessons I learned along the way are, everyone has their own race to run and you have to decide how you are going to run yours and how you are NOT going to run yours. You win some and you lose some but at the end of the day it is what you choose to do next that is most important. Learn from those who hurt you and continue to build on your experiences until you achieve what success looks like to you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a hard one! We are new to the area and have a 2 year old so its hard to get out sometimes. I will say though my husband and I are obsessed with Top Golf so that is on the list for sure. I am a big fan of cafes as well, so I would bring them to some of my favorites like Honey Bird, Edison Coffee, Sip Stir Coffee House, and of course 151 Coffee drive through which has been my latest addiction. To eat we would definitely go to Morning Edition in Parker Square, love their breakfast/brunch. We would walk around heritage park and let the kiddos run around a bit since that place is absolutely fantastic and worth seeing at any age. lol. I would take them to Hard Eight BBQ in Roanoke and walk around the downtown after to see the shops and stop for any live music that may be happening.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to shout out all of those that have helped me along the way, such as Jeffrey Tam. He was my mentor at Frederic Fekkai in Manhattan NYC who inspired me to become a colorist and made me fall in love with hair painting, otherwise known as Balayage. Everyone who has given me an opportunity when it felt like there wasn’t one. The boys at Le Bazaar in Palm Beach, FL who believed in me and essentially handed me over a very large and high profile clientele which really skyrocketed me to be where I am today. My husband who I quite literally could not do what I am today without his support, wisdom, encouragement, long weekends renovating, nights listening to my worries, and just being the best advocate that I could ever have hoped for in a life partner! Finally, and most importantly I need to shout out the one who created every opportunity, set up those divine appointments, pushed me out of fear and into faith, carried me through the darkest nights and brightest days, the one who’s name is above all names, Jesus Christ.
