We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.
Relentless by Tim S. Grover. I have never found a book that described me so well. In the book Grover has people identified into 3 categories Coolers, Closers and Cleaners. I identify with being a Cleaner. Cleaners are unstoppable. We take responsibility, drop excuses, we don’t look for shortcuts, and we live for challenges. Everyone has it in them to become a Cleaner but they have to be willing to make changes and become unstoppable. I want others to read it too so they can see their potential and be challenged to achieve greater success in life. Don’t settle for second best in anything!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I owned my own social media business for four years before accepting a full time corporate position at Zilis as the Sr. Social Media Manager. I have held a variety of positions in corporate mostly relating back to marketing, communications, and customer service. I love interacting with people and having fun at work. Owning my own business was very challenging and I realized I am too much of an extrovert to be isolated from human interaction daily. Some lessons I have learned along the way is to not count on others for your own personal success. If you want something you have to go after it yourself and be relentless in your pursuit to find what makes you happy.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A concert of some sort is a must, Billy Bob’s, The Gingerman for some cold drinks, Joe T Garcia’s for delicious Mexican food and margaritas, No one comes to DFW and skips out on seeing the Stockyards in Fort Worth, we have a lot of great food here and no one can miss out on some great Texas BBQ from either Heim or 407 in Argyle.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The CEO & Founder of Zilis (where I work full time as the Sr. Social Media Manager), Steven Thompson added the book Relentless to a monthly book club for our Ambassadors. The staff was not required to read it but it piqued my interest so I decided to check it out. I appreciate the recommendation.
