Meet Alisha Zachary | Permanent Jewelry Artist & Owner of Goldilinks Jewelry & Hat Bar

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alisha Zachary and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alisha, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
It’s all about the experience! Much like getting a tattoo, getting permanent jewelry is a very personal process. My favorite part of sharing permanent jewelry with my clients is helping them choose from a wide variety of high quality chains. I really take the time educate them about permanent jewelry while also listening to what they want and helping them find a chain that truly reflects their personal style. Every piece of jewelry I put on a client is truly unique!
My studio suite is a cozy and cute space and everyone who enters agrees that it is a unique and fun space to experience permanent jewelry. Oftentimes, people are exposed to permanent jewelry at a festival or market event where there may be long lines and the permanent jewelry artist is rushing to get everyone through the line only to loose contact with the artist and never see them again. But in my dedicated studio space we laugh, share stories, celebrate special occasions and truly experience permanent jewelry!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I did not start off as a creative! But my path led me there! My background is in accounting. I hold a master’s degree and worked in the oil & gas industry for several years. I knew that ultimately I wanted to take my business background and use it to manage my own business. When I heard about permanent jewelry, I knew right away that I wanted to get involved! I have always loved window shopping for jewelry with my mom when I was younger. And I had some basic beginner level knowledge of making jewelry from doing crafts with my children when they were young. I immediately began researching and learning everything the internet could offer about permanent jewelry. I purchased a welder, some chains, and found a place to call my studio. As soon as my welder came in, I started putting jewelry on myself and I self-taught to fill the gaps that only experience could give me. I dedicated every weekend to permanent jewelry while managing my career in the oil and gas industry during the week. It was my super fun side hustle! After a year of steady growth and a very strong desire to lean fully into my creative side, I left my corporate job to grow my jewelry business.
I love sourcing new chains and charms. Goldilinks offers over 40 sterling silver and gold chains to choose from making each piece a truly unique representation of the customer. Each piece is made to the clients specifications right in front of their eyes. My clients enjoy watching and being a part of the process for their own one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
DFW is a mecca for culture! This is one of the reasons that brought me here from Oklahoma City. I’ve only been here a couple of years so having my bestie in town would be an adventure for both of us! My itinerary would include an art museum, Dallas Museum of Modern Art is a favorite as is the Kimball in Fort Worth. We would also have to find a great concert! So many great artists stop in the metro during their tours. A day spent strolling through the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens is a must. And finding a rooftop bar with a pool, like Canvas, would be the perfect ending. To satiate the foodie in us, a visit to Oliva Italian Eatery is required for a quaint setting and delicious meal. And to toot my own horn, Goldilinks Jewelry is one of my favorite places in DFW! It’s like hanging out at your besties girl cave with champagne and conversation flowing with no cares in the world.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband and children are my biggest cheerleaders! They know how much happiness doing permanent jewelry brings me and they all help in their own ways. My husband is the muscle behind Goldilinks helping me on his days off (and for free!) to set up at festivals and events. My children all have taken a huge interest in learning how to weld and design custom pieces for clients….and themselves lol.
My mom, my angel in heaven, is a huge reason why I’m doing permanent jewelry. She taught me that life is too short so do what makes you happy while you’re still here.
My wonderful group of friends who are also female small business owners have taught me the importance of supporting each other in our dreams rather than competing against each other.
