We had the good fortune of connecting with Ali Deeb and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ali, what do you attribute your success to?
I feel like personally the factor that was most important in the success of the brand was not being afraid, I wasn’t scared of failing or judgment or anything. It made the biggest difference as I noticed that this along with persistence these were my most defining qualities. I also feel like being able to be personable and talk to people was something that set me apart from other brand owners.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business started 2 years ago as an idea to sell grip socks, we named it Shift Grip Socks, it has went on to be an entire brand that is currently in 45 stores and has an entire athletic clothing line that is worn by professionals athletes, active people and even High-school teams. The journey was no part easy in that it essentially started with no capital except for 100$ each between me and a friend named Christian. I started selling the shift grip socks everyday out of a duffel bags at events and walk around soccer fields selling them. Everyday cooking in the sun for hours, I would leave home at 8-9am and come home at 9-10pm, I would shower then work on my website and learn about the financial side of the business for for 3-4 hours before going to sleep around 2-3am. It then grew to meeting stores and so on and so forth. I outworked basically everyone I knew, I took more risks and was willing to go anywhere to try to push my products. The biggest lesson I learned is if you want to succeed in life you have to kill fear, and be aggressive about your goals. I want the brand to be remembered as an inspirational brand to any young hustler who is not starting off with a lot of money that it’s possible if you stay disciplined and keep grinding that anything is possible.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely believe that as self made you believe you are so much of your success comes from your support groups and friends, I feel like my dad especially was imperative in my brands success in that he always tried to give me his best advice along with my mother and sister, I also have to give a lot of credit to my close friends who helped grow the brand from scratch, these friends include Christian, Lorenzo, G3, AB, Caleb, Talah, Abu, Amer and many more. I also have to thank the companies and brands that supported from the beginning these include SBOG Futsal, Moya Elite, and EST training.
