Meet Alexis Gilbert, BSW | Mobile Bartender & Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Gilbert, BSW and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexis, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued a creative career because I have always used my creativity in every job I have had! My father is very creative and taught my brother and I to use our creativity in every aspect of life. I have always loved decorating and making events a little bit more festive. I love throwing showers, birthday parties, etc. for my friends and helping with the marketing side of businesses. I saw an opportunity to open my own business, so I ran with it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I graduated with my Bachelors of Social Work in 2016. I pursued a social work career for about 4 years, but I found a different route when I became pregnant with my son. Once I had my son in January 2020 the pandemic shut down happened and I knew working the typical Monday thru Friday 9:00am – 5:00 pm was not something I was interested in. I wanted to be able to have a creative outlet, provide for my family, and stay home with my son during the week. Bartending was always a side gig even during my professional career, so I took time to research mobile bartending in the DFW area. Once I realized how big the market for mobile bartenders was, I knew this could be my chance. I designed a logo, bought all the equipment, and began the remodel on my cargo trailer. With the help of my family, I was able to get the cargo trailer completely remodeled in about 6 months and we officially launched the trailer in October of 2021. I am able to provide mobile bartending services from a pop up bar and a trailer bar. I am really proud of how much the business has grown within the first year. The entire process was extremely hard, consisted of a ton of youtube videos, and trial and error. All of the hard work was worth it though, I am able to provide for my family while being proud of a business that offers quality services within the DFW area. We not only offer bartending services, but we provide an experience.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was in town I would love to make them a home cooked meal, but the ingredients would come from Bodega South Main, the owner (Tasha Monticure) puts so much thought into her fresh produce and ingredients. I would make sure they visit Wild acre, both the brewery and restaurant never disappoint. Summer moon coffee on South main is always a must. What a treat it would be to attend a local venue with Whitnye Raquel singing! We would also swing by Lolas trailer park for drinks, music, and the awesome vending machine, (Portobello Road Ft. Worth).
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I could not be a successful business owner without the support of my immediate family and friends. They have pushed me to continue even when I thought my business was way over my head. I do want to send a shout out to my fellow business women friends such as, Whitnye Raquel , Blythe Mcelvany (Bash West Fort Worth), & Brittany Haagsma (Polished Peach Nail Truck). These ladies break the typical mold and have pursued business in a way that is very inspirational.
