We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Yiannios and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, why did you pursue a creative career?
I believe that everyone needs an outlet to express themselves. It can be collecting, gaming, or even photography for some. For me, it’s modeling and creating content! I also have a 9-5 job but there a components that it doesn’t contain, that I find in modeling to feel like a more complete version of myself.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me apart from others has a lot to do with my look. I come from multiple ethnic backgrounds, all of my grandparents being immigrants and being surrounded by culture. This has contributed to my ethnically “ambiguous” approach to modeling. Being able to fit a lot of different roles. I don’t think this industry is easy by any means, it takes work like all others mainly posing and networking. The hardest thing about the modeling industry is confidence. You’ll find yourself comparing yourself to these amazing talents and get consumed in it all. My recommendation to anyone wanting to enter this line of work, is to find self worth rather than searching for it in an industry such as this one. I have always struggled with my image but, being able to overcome that by keeping my head down and grinding is a great accomplishment of mine.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a huge sports fan, love video games and I don’t mind stepping out from time to time. I would likely recommend a Mavs, Cowboys, or Stars game. I have never really been a hockey fan but over the years, I’ve realized it’s such a entertaining sport. As for the video game part I get my fix at places like Farm and Feed and Cidercade. Both having great drink options and food. When it comes to bars I don’t think you can go wrong, you’ll always find something in Dallas!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give credit where credit is due. This journey kind of manifested itself.. I would like to thank The Dragonfly Agency for seeing the potential I have had. More specifically Stasia Langford and Loren Whitsett, Owner and Agent. I would like thank many photographers but, one in particular that helped me a lot on this journey is Adrian Lopez. I’d like to shoutout friends and family for grounding me and yet at the same time giving me a good push in this direction.
