We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Ewings and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to create a lifestyle for the everyday working individual centered around elevated and functional staples that would allow one to transition from setting to setting confidently and comfortably.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I take a lot of pride in my creative approach. Attention to detail has always been important to me, and I think that anyone who’s been following the brand up to this point can attest to that.

What sets us apart from some is that before we introduce anything to the market, we’re asking ourselves, “How will this age? How will this look 10-15 years from now?” instead of looking around and trying to figure out what’s trending.

None of this is easy. Fun? Yes, but never easy. It takes focus, consistency, perseverance, and so much more. There are challenges every other day, but you have to have the ability to find solutions and pivot when needed.

One of the most important of many lessons that I’ve learned up to this point is that you cant make an impact by just rolling out great products. You must also be able to tell a story around those great products.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m the wrong person to lead the charge when it comes to anything nightlife-related, but food-wise, we would have to go to Carbone, Nick & Sams, Rudy’s Chicken, Gus’s, Mi Cocina, and Sadelle’s, to name a few. There’s a Frida Kahlo exhibit happening that I’d love to checkout, so add that to the list. It’s currently 100+ degrees outside, so finding a rooftop pool during the day doesn’t sound like a bad idea.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and immediate circle have been very vital throughout my journey thus far. I thank them for providing me with the emotional support needed along the way and for always holding me accountable. Anyone working in this industry or working in one that calls for extreme focus knows that those two things are very important.
