We had the good fortune of connecting with Adeline Rock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adeline, how do you think about risk?
I think everything making my business worth doing or even anything in this life wouldn’t be anything of substance or quality without risk. There’s a quote I love: “God placed the best things in life on the other side of fear.” I try my absolute best to live my life by this because I’ve never heard anything of higher truth. Taking risks, like side-stepping college, having enough confidence in myself to run a business without a true backup plan, or even making the first large investment in my business, is exactly what has led me to the amazing business I get to run today.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Easy is definitely not the word I would use to describe the journey, but it was certainly eventful and adventurous. I’ve been able to grow in my business and craft through amazing mentors, friends who would allow me to take photos of their lives for practice, and the 14 different internships I had before the age of 19. I think I would go as far as to say that I actually encourage and welcome challenges + failures in growing my business. Without them, there would be no learning or growth, which is the core of a successful business and life. Trying to avoid challenges or failures will only lead to a negative path and keep you from growing, in my opinion! Loving what you do certainly makes the whole “growth” aspect easier, haha, but it’s not without difficulties.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh! Great question. Austin has so many amazing spots and things to do. With the craziness of this pandemic, it’s certainly more of a challenge to experience the city in the same way as we used to, but I would say my top three spots are: 1. Mozarts – an amazing coffee shop right on lake Travis, with an even more amazing light show for the holidays. Grabbing a hot chocolate here is always a fun adventure. 2. Paddle-boarding on Ladybird Lake or having a lakeside picnic with a view of the skyline is truly a favorite thing of mine. Grabbing some Rosé & watching the sunset behind the city is unbeatable. 3. Zilker Park is an amazing, albeit, almost too well known spot in the city, haha, but not to be missed. With Covid, this spot remains an amazing experience to bring your doggos and friends, while again watching the skyline in all of it’s glory. (Can you tell I have a thing for ATX’s skyline?)

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I think more than anything or anyone else, my moms gets all the credit. Without her showing me the major benefits of being your own boss, allowing me to split my education between school and internships at a young age, or just wholeheartedly supporting me through any crazy business idea I had, there is no way I would be in the position I am now, business or life-wise.
