We had the good fortune of connecting with Abel Rodriguez Jimenez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Abel, what principle do you value most?
Because it is the way to achieve everything you want to do with awareness and confidence.
To be free means to be free from the ego and to take greater responsibility for an authentic life.
It is living with purpose, helping others, while breathing happiness—using money as a vehicle to get there.

My concept of wealth changed when I understood that being rich does not mean showing off clothes or material things.
To be truly wealthy is about investing in different areas of life—educating myself to share what I know as a mentor.
It means having enough money to live very comfortably while remaining simple.

Life is simple. Human beings are the ones who tend to make it complicated.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a fencing coach and I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education.
I’m originally from Cuba. I love to travel, read meaningful books, and watch movies with depth and purpose.

I set myself free the day I discovered that I wanted to be a speaker.
It wasn’t easy—it was a journey of nearly 40 years.
But I’m here now, beginning this new career, and I love it.

The most exciting part for me is to serve and to coach.
To see someone smile or feel happy is a gift.
If I can impact just one person with my message, I feel fulfilled—
Because nothing has brought me more happiness than touching the heart of someone who listens to me.

I’ve learned that God is kind, complete, and unity itself.
That every cycle of life is unique—so live it with intensity and authenticity.
Every setback is just a jump toward the climb of success, and it teaches us how not to repeat the same mistake.

As a coach, I’ve learned that everything we need is already inside us.
It’s okay to fail. It’s okay to be vulnerable.
We are not perfect, and we should never judge.

Every human being has a unique talent.
It is our mission to discover our purpose, to ask:
Why am I here? What will be my legacy?

I want the world to know that we can become the best version of ourselves.
Sometimes, it’s as simple as smiling and breathing.

And never—never ever—give up.

To live is a decision we make at every moment.
Let’s choose to see the good, the prosperity, and the opportunity to grow and serve with love.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would say Grandscape in Frisco is a must-see.
I would definitely take you to the Reunion Tower Restaurant, with its stunning 360-degree view of Dallas.
We’d visit the Kennedy Museum downtown, and then head to the Fort Worth Stockyards.

I’d also take you to San Antonio to enjoy amazing food—
And definitely to the beach in Galveston, near Houston.

I love the beach and the sun.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First of all, I thank God for sharing every moment with me.
To my grandparents, for their dedication and love through every minute.
To my sweet wife, for being my rock and my confidant.
To my mom, for her patience and understanding.
To my children, who have been my greatest teachers.
To my colleagues at Latino Speaker Network, and to my family.
And finally, to myself—for being me.
