We had the good fortune of connecting with 40ozDai and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi 40ozDai, how do you think about risk?
Taking risk is one of the main factors in my career , and apart of who I am. As a rockstar , a rager , I only believe in doing what you want in life and having no regrets. Life is an adventure so you have to take risk, do those things that boost your adrenaline and dopamine. That’s where the fun is, putting yourself in unfamiliar oppositions. You really start living when you take yourself out a box and stop putting limitations on yourself and what you can do. Takings risk has only got me in certain situations and positions people could only dream of. Takings risk is also a vital part of following your dreams. You gotta do the unordinary to get in unordinary positions.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think the biggest difference between me and a lot of artist / musicians is I actually live and experience my art. It’s an expression of my thoughts and ideas, through many outlets : Creating music , clothes , videos , etc. are all therapy for me , it’s a way to get out how I feel and fully express myself on my own terms. I’ve gotten to where I am now by persevering and always believing I was meant to be there. I never stopped believing I was great and with that mindset you never let yourself fail, because you know it’s always more that’s meant for you. I don’t think any part of life is easy , but everything has a lesson so when you try to find the lessons in things instead of thinking all these what if’s and what could’ve beens, you’ll be able to advance further in life. What I’m most proud about is my ability to be myself and inspire the others around me. I know the people I touch walk away with something , they feel more empowered and free just by my mindset and life choices. So it only furthers me to wanna push that message in my career and brand. I want people to know being yourself is ok, loving who you are is mandatory and being different isn’t different. It’s just not the regular box people want to put you in. Unfamiliarity scares people but rockstars never live in fear. I want the world to know you can do whatever you want in life Aslong as your being yourself.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I go anywhere that has good food and margaritas. Vidorra is a good spot, I go to velvet taco a lot. Plenty spots on deep ellum and Greenville where this is good food and vibes. Of course I would take them to one of my shows. The north park area is cool. Xtc is a fun place to go , there’s a few good strip clubs. Anywhere with good energy, good music , or food I’m there. I like trying new things so we definitely would hit a couple spots I haven’t been too aswell.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out everybody in my collective “ HigherThanMost “ everybody in that crew has played a vital part of what’s going on in my career right now & also their who I live this rockstar life with.
