We had the good fortune of connecting with Abigail Austin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Abigail, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Growing up both my mom and dad owned small businesses. They definitely instilled in me a strong work ethic and I got to see both the challenges and benefits of being a small business owner. I’ve been interested in being an entrepreneur for as far back as I can remember and I appreciate the challenge it involves as well as being able to make a difference in my community.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Wholesome Diaper Co. is a cloth diaper service serving the local areas of Milwaukee, WI and Dallas-Fort Worth, TX. We provide weekly delivery of clean cloth diapers to families and pick up the dirty diapers to be washed and sanitized. We have kept half a million disposable diapers out of local landfills since beginning our business. We are proud of doing good work to benefits families in our community and supporting & empowering new parents in making healthy choices for their baby and the future of our planet.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We love visiting Cedar Ridge Nature Preserve and River Legacy Nature Center for walks in the woods. We also enjoy visiting the Perot Museum and both of the Dallas & Fort Worth Zoos. Chicken & Pickle and Babe’s Chicken make our list of favorite places to eat.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shout out to my family, especially my husband, for always believing in me and supporting my big dreams. I can always go to my family with questions or to bounce ideas off of. My brother has his MBA and my other brothers are in sales and own their own businesses so I have a built in team to get ideas and encouragement from.
