Hi Chef Sheena SheWins, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Corporate america wasn’t fulfilling and felt way too demanding. I was on a spiritual awakening of self discovery and my purpose was being revealed to me. Eye was shifting into a new way of eating and my passion for cooking/entertaining/educating started to become more prominent in my everyday life. Eye made the decision to walk away from the 8-5 and dedicate my happiness to doing what eye love. Cooking, educating and entertaining. Ohm Woke was bearthed.

What should our readers know about your business?
Ohm Woke is the name of my business. Let me break it down, because it’s truly intentional. Ohm =Om vibrating with the youniversal sound. Woke= Alignment with your higher consciousness & purpose. State of gratitude. When you consume my food be prepared to get lifted. Eye started out as a vegan chef and evolved into a health conscious chef. Meaning, Eye didn’t want to put the focus on just being VEGAN eye noticed it was a lot of pressure to add a label to how we eat vs realizing eye wanted people to be conscious/about how we eat and the way it affects our mind/body/spirit. Knowledge is power and when we KNOW better we actually do better and are able to be consistent with the lifestyle change. Eye assist families/individuals/athletes into transitioning into a health conscious lifestyle. Introducing masses to Indigenous cuisines, how we ate pre-colonization. Becoming a chef/business owner takes patience with self, you have to expand your network, get involved in the community. It can have it’s ups and down but it’s truly based on your approach and perspective.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If eye am being honest, my friends/family always want me to cook for them. Eye can offer so many places but there is truly nothing compared to a home cooked Ohm Woke meal lol. Dallas has so many DOPE spots to try out, close your eyes and pick one you can’t go wrong with any of them lol. Eye would start with any plant-based eatery or chef that offers a personal chef experience. Eye love a good Flambe’ experience!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
LIFE and life’s experiences have motivated me, molded me, plunged me into the being eye am today and my Sun (son) love you Jadon!
