We had the good fortune of connecting with Alysa Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alysa, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I always love trying new food and sharing new spots with the people around me. I had a roommate who is already a food blogger and having my manager encouraging me to make a blog, it really gave me that pushed to create my food blog page. Food is a comfort zone for me and whenever I post my food places people always ask me about it, so why not make a page dedicate to all the food places I’ve been and share it with everyone! I genuinely enjoy doing it and it gives me the opporutinity to explore new places!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m currently a full-time student and a part-time pharmacy technician. Time management is key considering how busy I get with college and my job. Whenever I get a chance to go to new place and make a post about it, I take that chance. The more food place I post my followers increases, which gets me more excited that my food blog page it’s getting the recognition of all my hard work and time being put into it. The idea of starting a food blog gave me that excitement feeling, but it also got me into a place where I have to think of ways to stand out from other pages. From a simple biography description of my page to know how to edit the pictures and laying out captions for each post. It wasn’t hard nor easy to get the recognition I have today, it took time, effort, and most of all patience. Creating a food blog gave me a chance to be creative more than I normally am, from having catchy puns captions to fun/creative food review descriptions.
I want everyone to know that life gets busy and time is limited, so take a day out of your busy life and enjoy a bite of whatever food you desire and have that “self-care day” to enjoy. As a full-time college student who also work, having a food blog remind to take a break and just enjoy the things that are happening around me!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The food options are endless, I have a best friend Christy who visits DFW whenever she’s on break from college and we would spend the entire day from sunrise to sunset going on our food adventures. we take turns picking food places and eat our heart out. Her and I went to Kyodau Hand roll and sushi bar in Frisco, first time I’ve ever eaten insanely amount of raw sushi which I never do and honestly it was DELICIOUS! Anyone who loves sushi, I definitely recommend that place and their price is great too! A good brunch spot for me would be Cris and Johns located in North Dallas, they’re a Vietnamese street food with a Mexican twist, there food is amazing! For my friends who are 21 years old and older, Alky Therapy Daiquiris and Dessert a great alcoholic/dessert place in Knox Henderson, Dallas has this amazing drinks that is insanely strong and great flavors! My friends who has a sweet tooth, definitely take them to The Yard Milkshake bar in The Colony, I had a chance to do an event with them and their desserts are insane and very picture worthy or Amy’s Donut in Denton, their gourmet donuts are very unique.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My food blog would’t be where it’s at without my boyfriend who’s willing to drive me to all the food places I’ve been no matter how far it is, my manager and roommate for encouraging me to create a food blog page, and lastly all my followers who supported me throughout my food blog journey. My food blog wouldn’t happen without any of their love and support!
