We had the good fortune of connecting with Q Prodigal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Q, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from Rochester, NY. It’s a huge melting pot and has different sections of it that seem like completely different realities. Growing up on both sides of the fence made me adaptable to any environment I’m in and has allowed me to live all over the country my entire life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart from most is that I have been a performer since before I could walk. The state has always been apart of my life and it shows when I get to perform my music today.

I’m most proud of the deep connections I’ve made through music with artists of all mediums and I’m most excited about the upcoming projects I get to work on with them. Especially my next full length album in 2022

The road to where I am now has had its highs and lows as all artists have. What has kept me grounded and motivated is my family and closest friends who always uplift me and have genuine belief in my career as an artist.

The main thing I want the world to know is that my love for my craft is deeper than just rapping. It’s an invitation into my world and I wanna express it in so many ways you’ll just have to see. “Prodigal” was never just music.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Rochester has these things called garbage plates you kind of have to try one to get stamped so we definitely have to go to Empire Hots I used to go almost everyday in high school. We just built a new skatepark downtown that’s beautiful and downtown in general is a beautiful spot to skate around.
We gotta go to Wegmans cause I stand by the fact that it’s the best grocery store in the world and it was birth right here in the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be anywhere without these guys so I wanna shoutout my friends McQUAID, Kypat*, FULF, Dedisart, RLO, and Chaia
