We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Gleason and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elizabeth, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Each day is treated like Groundhog Day, never breaking the chain. I am such a proponent of a morning routine. I have been religious about doing the same thing for years now. I believe this plays a great role in my success.
A normal morning for me looks like this: 30 minutes of quiet time – devotional and prayer, exercise for an hour, writing in my journal – affirmations and two things I am grateful for, making my bed, review to-list for the day before cracking my laptop open, posting a positive message to social media, and then, getting dressed. All before 8:00 am.
Showing up everyday is so important!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am honored to say that I am a Top Producing Realtor and Team Leader in North Texas but, the title I am most proud of is mom of four. I have always had a heart to serve others and through real estate, I knew it would afford the opportunity for me to do so. I held a license for many years before jumping into the industry full time. I started out as an assistant where I absorbed as much information as possible, learning the business from all perspectives. I was faced with a great challenge in March of 2017, I went through a very unexpected separation that led to a divorce. Shortly thereafter, I went into being a full time real estate agent working on commission only pay. I was now a single income household, the breadwinner and a single mom. It was at that time that I knew I could sink or soar. I now had four young individuals watching my every move, cheering me on and I had to show them that we must turn our pain into purpose. By the grace of God, I was able to show up everyday, set goals and work aggressively toward them. Not knowing what kind of lifestyle changes we would have to make, we were going to make the best of it regardless. It was during that time that I discovered my potential and passion for truly helping others. My friends and family were so supportive of me and my business. I could not have survived without the support of so many. Since, I have had the pleasure of serving many with their buying, selling and rental needs. Through real estate, I found purpose again. I had the pleasure of showing my kids what it meant to overcome, rely on faith over fear and show up as the best version of yourself. If you can dream it, you can do it. Each day is a new day and everything if figure-out-able.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A foodie at heart, there are so many wonderful places to visit in the Dallas, Fort Worth area! I am a Grapevine resident, I have called it home for over 15 years. We would start out with breakfast at Main Street Cafe/Chez Fabien on Main Street in Grapevine. Their French Toast and Eggs Benedict are delicious! Then, we would explore the fabulous shops on Main.
Lunch at Harvest Hall at Hotel Vin, there are many food options and you always run into your friends while there! For evening fun, we would head to Dallas. They have some of the best bars, music and people watching. I am such a fan of Deep Ellum, Stir has delicious bites, amazing desserts and a club upstairs for music and cocktails.
You can’t leave town without visiting Historic Stock Yards, the brick roads, the shopping, it’s such a Texas vibe. Brunch and a spa day at Hotel Drover followed by a delicious dinner at Wicked Butcher would the itinerary for the day.. I would say, pack your boots for this one!
A day in Dallas! La La Land Coffee shop is bright, sunny and happy. Their specialty coffees provide options for everyone. You can spend hours sitting on their front porch, sipping coffee and enjoying the breeze. A day at Farmer’s Market is a good day. They have cute shops, local vendors and one of the best nurseries around for all of the plant lovers. My favorite bar in Dallas is Hide, they used to have a location in Deep Ellum, they are opening a new location this year in Lower Greenville. They have the most creative drinks, stories and delicious popcorn. And let’s not forget the music.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As I began my journey into real estate full-time, I was blessed with the opportunity to work on a Top Producing Team. I learned so many invaluable lessons, the mentorship and leadership was close to the best in the industry. Each week, I met with our personal coach and Leader, her name is Joyce. I will always remember her encouragement, her leadership, her guidance, and her story.
As Latin women, we both understood what it means to come from a very humble background and work your way up in an industry of your choosing. I will never forget when I reached a goal that seemed impossible, we celebrated and cried together. I will forever carry her nuggets of wisdom with me each and every day.
