We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharmayne Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sharmayne, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting my own business was to continue to work for someone else until I can save enough money to leave that company and work for myself . I also knew it would be a huge risk because I didn’t know what was going to happen or if I would be successful at becoming a business owner. I made sure I researched as much as I could before I decided to take the risk . Ultimately I decided to become a esthetician after visiting esthetics schools and learning more about the profession. I had many options to choose from but esthetics stuck out more to me .

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m am the owner of Ultimate Glow Beauty Bar and Beauty Glo located in Dallas, Tx were we specialize in esthetics, health and beauty . I provide facials , corrective treatments, eyelash extensions, waxing and more ! I am so proud of how far I have came . I started my journey to becoming my own boss in May 2019 . Along the way I have met so many different people and helped them embrace their beauty in some type of way . What’s exciting about my profession is the look on my clients face after a service or the messages they send me after seeing results from the series of treatments they received . Nothing brightens my day more then me reading those messages or me seeing the smiles on their face . Knowing what goes on behind the scenes of being a business owner those little things go a long way . Bring a business owner is not all glits and glam you really have to put in the work . You are your source of income , it’s nothing like working for someone else where you are guaranteed a check every two weeks . You really have to hustle for everything and put in the work . If not you won’t last long . My journey hasn’t been super hard but there are days when I’m not meeting my goal , so I have to go back to the drawing board and figure it out to get more sales . I spend a lot of time on creating content and learning new things to add to my services . In this business you have to be very knowledgeable and continued education is key . You always have to be ready to adopt to the next big tend in the beauty industry and iv been doing just that , so to my returning and new clients be on the look out for the new services I will be adding . One of the biggest lesson iv learned on my journey of being a business owner is that most of my support will come from strangers . In the beginning I struggled with the fact that my family and friends weren’t as supportive as I thought they should be . I eventually learned that’s ok because the support I needed came to me and that support has kept my business up and running for two years . Now that I am at my 2 year mark I want to expand my business and create more businesses . I will soon be adding new inventory to Beauty Glo , which provides my clients with Beaty tools they can use for at home facial care like exfoliating brushes ,steamers , and more . We will now be adding human lace frontal wigs to Beauty Glo and I’m super excited about that . I also will be offering credit repair as well top of the year 2022 . I have alot in store for you guys I hope you’re ready !

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friend was visiting on a trip I would definitely recommend nothing but food places to go to since Im such a  foodie lol . Our first stop would be Glorias Latin Cuisine they are known for their great drinks, the melt down will sure enough have you melting down ! They also have pretty good food . Other then eating I would suggest going to arcade places like andretti’s or main event.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I actually have a few people that has contributed to my success . Number one person being my mother. When my journey first began she was there cheering me on , encouraging me to do what it was my heart desired . I remember those car rides to work calling her early in the morning crying to her telling her how much I hated working and that I knew it was something else I was suppose to be doing in life . She would always tell me to just figure out what it was I wanted to do and do it ! And I did just that ! It’s times that I wanted to give up or I just would start slacking and losing focus but my mother would always get me back on track with her encouraging words or her willingness to help me any way she could to lighten my load and I appreciate her for that . Also I have a group of very close friends that I call my “Boss Friends “ , they also have growing businesses and are people that I can relate to and help me along the way with any and everything . So to these ladies thank you for your willingness to help , great advice , and genuine love you all show me .
