Meet La”Darius Loving | R&B Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with La”Darius Loving and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi La”Darius Loving, what role has risk played in your life or career?

I come from a family of hard workers. They are the type of people to play it safe and do things “by the book”. If you know anything about those kind of people there isn’t always room for creativity or finding your own way. On the other hand, I’ve always had the soul of an artist. Whether it was dance, music, or acting; my passion has always been expressing myself. I was the captain of my dance team for 4 years, I competed in state competitions and won multiple awards for acting and singing. I’m genuinely at my best when I’m able to make people happy with my talents. Following the arts was never a problem, as long as it was only a hobby and i had a “real job” for my future. My biggest regret would be not making music my top career choice and pouring into it like I wanted to. So you ask me what taking a risk mean to me… well it means straying away from generational norms, not allowing others to put their insecurities on you, and getting out of your own way to follow your passion. Taking risk is not giving up on your dreams no matter how old you are and overcoming obstacles victoriously. Taking a risk allowed me to finally start my music career after getting my degree and releasing my first Ep titled Ctrl +F. Now I’m poised to start working on my first album with a release date TBD. The idea of taking a leap of faith and not knowing the outcome can be scary but also has proven to be rewarding and transformative.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey as an artist started out typical. I grew up in the church where me and my brother both were apart of our church’s choir. He was the choir director and I was one of the members. I found my voice At Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, where I was able to find my true tone and the confidence to stand in front of a crowd and own it. Although I grew up in the church, my true passion has been R&B music. My artistic sound is a mix of a little old school R&B with new school with a hint of pop.

Aside from being an artist, I’m also a dancer who enjoys putting on a show. Incorporating dance and theatrics into my performance is what I would say separates me from a lot of male artist of today. The most exciting thing along this journey so far has to be the reaction and love I’m receiving from my family/friends and fans. Not to forget the actual process of making and recording songs. Two years ago was my first time stepping into a studio. Since then I’ve released my first ep titled “CTRL+F” which is available on all streaming platforms. I’m currently working on my first album, but in the mean time I will continue to book shows and promote myself. Getting this far wasn’t easy, I had to constantly battle with myself always second guessing and not listening to my gut. It wasn’t until I decided to take a risk that things started to look up for me, since then I haven’t looked back. I want the world to know that to achieve your dreams you have to be able to devote the time and effort it takes to become the best you  because when you’re the best you no one and nothing can keep you from your destiny. Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Dallas has a lot of hidden gems, however there’s a couple of spots that are a must like Street’s Fine Chicken. It’s the best darn chicken I’ve ever had and their prices are super affordable. Also the Daiquiri Shoppe is known for their chill vibes with great food and drinks. Six Flags Over Texas is one of the most toured attractions for the thrill seekers.

I would like to thank my mother Sherlyn Loving for being one of my biggest supporters along this journey.  Imani Janeé for always guiding me down the right path. I would also like to thank Terri Hardy my high school dance teacher for seeing my potential and assisting with my growth. lastly, a huge shout out to my family for all that you guys have done while ensuring that I always had what I needed to not only survive but to conquer the world.
